Kinda noob questions but being a pvp'er i have no idea about ice mining. Thinking of buying a ice mining character that has exhumers 5 and ice harvesting 5, mining upgrades 4 etc.
Questions are...
1) Whats the best to use for ice mining, hulk or mackinaw. I know the mack is specifically designed for ice mining but with skills, ice harvester upgrade II's and with 3 high slots with more room in cargo, is the hulk better? Just wondering as the mackinaw gets strangly conflicting bonuses to ice mining.
2) Where can i find a list of ice belt locations througout eve and what types of ice they have in them?
3) Where can i find a refine list for types of ice and average prices?
At first i thought of buying this character for supplying fuel for personal pos's and my carier but im wondering how much money people actially make ice mining, is it even worth it as a money maker?

I've heard some folks say that, in certain regions, ice mining can be very profitable. On the whole, however, ice mining is best left to farmers and those who need to fuel a POS. Prices being what they are, the most steady, high-income mining in high sec is low-end minerals atm.
That said, the best way to know for certain is always to do some research. Prices do vary by region.

If you have someone hauling, then the mackinaw beats the hulk. The mackinaw mines 4 units of ice for every 3 of the hulk, so your mining yield is better. The hulk offers the advantage of more cargo space, and for those who want to afk mine, that extra cargo space means you might only have to check the hulk every 3 cycles or so, or about 18 minutes, so you can do other things.

1) As stated before, Mackinaw mines more ice than a Hulk but has a smaller cargo hold. Having a hauler is almost a must.
2) Eve 2d maps by Ombey list systems that have ice belts. Just do a search and you will find the site with the maps. As for types of ice, the ice belts in each of the four areas of empire drop the ice needed to run that faction's towers.
3) The mining guide by Halada lists what ice breaks down into. Do another search for it. Various sites like Eve Central might have general prices available but you are a lot better off getting up to date prices for yourself.
