Hi,
I'm still quite new to this game, roughly a month now. When I created my account, I was really wondering if I want to spend that much money on a game. 20€ for the first, 15€ for the following months is quite a price. One of my the final arguments in favor of joining Eve was the ability to create multiple characters on one account. Today I've created a second character, which has from an IC perspective nothing to do with my main char. However, when I tried to start training with my new char, I was told that my main char is already training something, and therefore I cannot train with my new char.
Now I'm quite disappointed as I can't see any RP or IC reason for that. Speaking from the IC perspective: Toungoo does not know JowX, nor does JowX know Toungoo, but JowX can't train because a stranger is already training? Now f*ck that.
This reglemtation makes the 2nd and 3rd char of my account basically useless as every char needs constant training.
Is there any other reason except getting more players to buy yet another subscription to have 2 characters..?
Greetings, the player behind Toungoo and JowY |

It is to encourage people to stick to their main character I think. In my opinion it is valid.

Well, I would be all in favor of doing exactly that. I don't like the concept of an "alt" and the things one can do with one. I personally have never used another slot besides the first one.

Having alts is very useful...
I dont want my corp builder to leave his factory.... the refiner can be at another station... and my combat char is free to hunt and die if need be.
Be thankful it's 3 and not 5 like UO -------------------------------------------

This was implemented because of an exploit... people were able to train all the alts they want to indy skill, then rob people's cans. Then, after robbing a few cans, they just deleted the char. They also robbed corp hangars, etc... it created a heap of robbers, thieves, etc... as people wouldn't have to sacrifice skill training time on their main.
Second of all, pay 6 months at a time and pay only 11 euros a month.
Third of all, get a second account if you really want another char. You can play both at the same time too

What I always see as an answer from Polaris/CCP is that any other MMOG you play, you gain xp as you kill mobs or do quests.
Well in Eve you gain skillpoints over time instead. And since you don't need to be even logged in to train your skills, your always 'xp grinding' with one of your characters.

Here's what I did... I think alt accounts can be useful, but only for certain things.
I made a researcher alt on my account. This character started with the relevant skills, and it only took a few days to train things up to a good level. That character does all my research work, while the main character does whatever I do all day.
This is useful as a person can only research so many blueprints at once, so it is nice to have them on a separate account.
Unfortunately, there's very little reason why you'd want to train, say, a refiner on your main account. If you're gonna do that, you might as well train it on your main.
Someone mentioned an "exploit" regarding Industrials. Um... Just an FYI, using the character creation screen, you can get a new character in an Industrial in ~ 1 day.
