Cruisers go 1.5-1.6km/s. If you want to evade their guns, you've got to go significantly faster plus, be able to steer at this speed, something AFs have a significant problem with. The only thing that can't shoot you at 13-14km range at any rate are medium blasters, you can't keep drones off you since you lack speed.
I'll ask again, do you even fly AFs?

My fit is:
3x 150mm II, 1x RL
MWD, Web, Scram, Med Extender
2x Gyro, nano/OD
Kin rig, Field Purger.
Cap stable, nice tank.

Interesting comments considering the fact that the only ships you would want to be fighting in an Assault Frig are other AF's, Frigs and below. Most of which will be fitting a web.
Who would even bother to fight in deep falloff with small AC's anyway? Damage is utter crap.
Me thinks you are suffering from a bout of 'big mouth...small brain' syndrome here my good man.

I use:
3x 150mm II's (Barrage) 1x Rocket Launcher
1mn II AB, Named Web, Warp Disrupter II, MSE II
OD II, Nano II, Gyro II
Kinetic shield rig
runs about 25 mil to fit depending where your at.
Usualy lasts me a week.

I'm almost getting the skill to pilot my jaguar and i was thinking what would i fit in it.
So i came here and i'm wondering, why is everyone using autocannons and no artillery?

Because artillery takes up so much fitting you cant really fit a buffer tank and a prop mod on anymore. It also gimps the already crap dps from just 3 small turrets and anything youd be likely to be able to kill will simply get under your guns where you wont be able to hit them with no tracking bonus.
Really i think its time for everyone to admit against decent opponents, AFs simply have no purpose in pvp and limited usage in pve.
Also to the guy who thinks you can get by in an AF with an AB and no web... just lol tbh. AFs have a hard time getting by with an AB and a web, nevermind just an AB. Anything youd be likely to kill will simply keep you out of your optimal range and completely molest your ship with a method of their choosing. And you say you're an inty pilot? I cant think of anything else to say but lol really.
