I'm having a hell of a time find Ian M. Banks' books in America. I've searched high and low locally, but can't find anything but one or two of his most recent books. Is there a reason why I'm having so much trouble finding the Culture novels?
From what I've read here, he's a great author. I would think it would be easier to find his books than it seems to be. I've even tried used book sellers, and they didn't have anything at all.
Is he only really popular in the UK?
I'm just dying to get started on Consider Phlebas, so please help.

Yeah I had troubles too - went to a huge bookstore in Houston to get something for the 'plane. They didn't have any, or seem familiar with him.

My library system (Fairfax County, VA) has most of them, though not some of the older ones.

You can always import. Amazon.co.uk do oversees shipping, as do all of them.

Odd stuff indeed, makes me wonder what us foreigners miss out on that's widely available elsewhere. Even the Boarders store near my Uni has a good selection of Ian M. Banks works, but I ordered my recent selection here. Got hooked after a friend lent me her copy of "The Algebraist".
Currently reading "Consider Phlebas".

My favourites were Use of Weapons and Look to Windward. 
The Gallente are the Culture.

Don't miss out on his "Iain Banks" non-genre stuff.
There's some really good stuff in there too.
I think my favourites are The Crow Road, The Bridge and maybe Complicity.

Those aren't available either. I can get The Algebraist, and the two most recent Culture novels, I think - one could be an independent.

You don't have a load of Amazon.com marketplace sellers willing to ship them over?
Books that aren't published over here I can normally get from the US via Amazon.

Edit - there's a reason I don't use libraries. They're the ***** houses of the literature circuit.
