My Situation :)
I am Amarr, therefore i have a punisher and one indy. I use the indy to transport my 2 huge containers to some belts and then i mine there with my indy. I can make 300.000 one evening. From killing pirates i have alot of crap lying around of stuff that i cant use (need more skills).
What is the next logical step ? Upgrade the mining lasers ? Other stuff i shoudl get to improve my income.
My goal is to get the Amarr Cruiser Skill and then get myself an Omen. Any ideas on what stuff i should focus, things that make myself easier ? Important techs i should equip my ship ?

p.s I am really new to the game and i am ovverwhelmed by the many things i could get for my ship

The question is: what do you want to do??
di you want to fight, be an ³ber-miner? etc etc..
using amarr ships - make sure you learn the med laser skills, electronics and engineeing skills, and anything which ups your cap recharge rate..
If using an omen, also a good idea to learn a bit of drone usage... drones can really help you out.

You should consider joining a player corporation.
Have a look at the corporations forum or the ingame recruitment channel, and try to find one that suits your playing style.
It's not only more fun if you have buddies to talk to, it's also much more profitable for example to mine in a group, and you will have experienced players to give you advice on how to progress in EVE.

i'm kinda in your situation atm, i've brought another ship and mining lasers etc, i'm going to concetrate on getting new skills o i can use most of the stuff avaliable when i have enough money to buy all the gagets for my new tristan, joining a corp is a good idea, but don't join the first one you see, join one that you want to join,m theres loads out there

yeah - what are those other things?
Personally i HATE mining, espeicially solo. If the corp needs some mins bad, then i mine/haul/guard an op for them, but otherwise i always go hunting or PvP.
find the thing you love, and do that... you can usually get isk doing what you love to do :) Dont ever slave away at something just for the isk...

The biggest point here is that you dont have to do everything alone :) You make 300k in one evning with punisher and indy. First time i went out mining with my corp and my badger, i hauled ore for them, and i made 3 mil. :) Difference there. Thats almost enough money for an omen :) It is very very immportant to find a corp that suits your playing style. You seem like an active player, most corps would be glad to have you.
From my point of view, the corp is very immportant. Been playing eve for a bit over a month now. I have 4-5 cruisers, countless frigs, 5 haulers.I just gave 30 mil to my bro to get arma, i still got 30 mil :) Corps are very important if you are going to increase your purchasing power :P

Just for the record as you're newbie, this so called 'crap' you do know that it can be recycled into minerals or placed on the market.

Pick it up anyway. You can sell it or reprocess it for more minerals. One of the most common items I see dropped are hull and armour repairers. These can be sold for about 13,000. You can bump up what you get from mining by selling dropped loot.

And not to forget the value some items get from rafining. Get 10 or so of a certain module, and you can get lots of resources from them.
For instance, repairers rafine into mega or if it was zydrine, wich sells nice on the market, or can aid you building stuff.

If you are going to aquire a cruiser you will have alot more fun if you gain the support skills to fly it first. Get Med Laser turrets/ engineering 4/ electronics 4/ Shield upgrades/ Electronic warfare/ Propulsion jamming.... etc. That way as soon as you get into your cruiser you can outfit it properly. Make sure you can use Miner 2s, in fact get mining up as quickly as possible and the refining skills if you go that route.

What Mad Ahab said makes a lot of sense to me. Many people want a cruiser 'cause its bigger than a frigate. And once they've got it they don't know what to do with it. Still I guess most people just mine with thier cruisers.
