While this isn't strictly "offline", it does beat the original EVE in several aspects:
- there is no lag and the frame rate is better
- the UI is better and more responsive
- it is actually playable with sound

In all honesty, this is exactly what Eve is slightly missing in their tutorial and in their PVE missions.
A slightly more personal contact, handing out missions which seem to involve you personally.
Also a more congruent line of story progressing from mission to mission.
I so far have read most of my missions stories, but they do become repetititive. I like the mission most which have several parts as it seems like I "advance" from one part of the story to another. Although the story line mission tend to "advance" the overall background story, advancing from one level to the other, the tidbits are too far away from each other.
IMHO "quest" centric agents which give out "specific" missions all around story arc would go along way for Eve's PVE, also "rewarding" loot at the end would go a long way. Naturally farming would be a problem but you could hand out like "badges" for your character profile and just reward the loot once, but keep the mission repeatable (for standing/gain/loss and a some ISK).
E.g. there would be a set of dedicated agents that gives out the mission series "The missing reporters" followed by "human cattle" and "In The Midst Of Deadspace" as the all seem to evolve around the conflict between matari and amarr with the caldari getting involved on the amarr side.
These agents send you from one to the other and you can only "restart" them if you have finished "one arc"/the full series.
In addition you have the common agents, which just hand out random missions which repetitive story lines (stop the pirates).
This would be like the old privateer where you could start working for special ppl you had to talk to thus advancing in the story (they were located in bars, cantinas, shops slighty different place for each station) and on the other hand had the mission board, where you could just grab mission for cash.

Love the game, but i'm having a problem. When I get into a fight, the screens dont change to slideshows like in the real eve. Think you could code up some 'enormous LAGGGG' to make us feel at home ? :)
