Where does the universe end? Is there a god? Will the invention implants ever get fixed? The material research depends on the build cost of your item and the quantity at you build them. If you build 2 per week and save 5isk per item because of your ME research then no, if you build 1000000 then its starting to make sense? If the item you build cost 1 billion isk to build and you can save 50m per item is it worth it?
The site found here has a very nice breakdown on Material Cost vs. Item Cost. Just browse to the item you want in the market and have a look.
About BPC's.. depends on the item and quantity of copies you manage to sell. Like all manufacturing you need to investigate the market and try to find something thats not over exploited. For example selling a freighter BPC today can make as much as 500m but then the blueprint cost well over a billion and takes 29days to copy in an advanced lab at a POS.
It all depends....

of course it all depends bla bla bla. Just like the profit you get from working on research agents depends on your skills, their level, their effective quality, their number, the price of datacores you get and if you do missions for them or not. Thats why I ask for approximation, which in case of R&D for example would be 20-25 mil per day per character if you do research missions as well...

Datacores from research agents are npc controlled, the eve market is player controlled. If something is making losts of profit, people (experienced manufacturers) will pick up on this and adapt, switching their business over to this to profit while they can.
More people switching over -> more competition -> price drops -> profit drops
Simple. That's why you have to survey the market, read patch notes, predict market fluctuations that you can profit from. I doubt nobody, in their right might, would tell you about their golden egg they are "harvesting" on the market atm since it would cut into their own profit
