Ok, I've decided to stop using station containers because I can't view my stuff through assets anymore. I have 5 station containers I need to get rid of.
I empty them of stuff, and try to reprocess them for the minerals:
Quote: 2007.12.04 07:52:51 Info The Audit Log Secure Container can not be reprocessed as it has a log entry that is less than three weeks old.
Okay.. Well I don't need the Tritanium from reprocessing them... I try repackaging them so that I can then reprocess them:
Quote: 2007.12.04 07:58:41 Info The Audit Log Secure Container can not be repackaged as it has a log entry that is less than three weeks old.
Um.. Getting annoyed now... Fine, I'll just trash them.

I clicked trash, not reprocess... How hard is that to understand?
Ok, basically, WHY?!
What purpose does this serve? What if I don't really care that it has a log entry?! Why should I be forced to deal with this pointlessness?
And I just know found out that trying to repackage them.. guess what... adds something to the log!!!
For ****s sake, who would think this is necessary?
Garrrrrrururrrrruh... -----sig-starts-here------ Ok I need a new sig so...

Secure audit log station containers are designed that way to improve security in organised corporations for those that know how to use them. Trashing or repackaging would delete the log thus making them useless for that purpose.
Just because you don't know why or how something works, it doesn't mean it's useless. ------------------------ I don't believe in sigs. |

Still, there should be an option to ignore the log, but you need specific rights to set it in a station container in a corporate hangar. -----sig-starts-here------ Ok I need a new sig so...

Yes, they are a bit awkward to use, but for good reason. If you don't need either the secure log or the huge space of station containers you're better off not using them really.
However, the way to enable trashing/reprocessing/etc of them is to rename them with the date once you are finshed with them. Call them something like "Empty 04/12/07" or even "Trashable on 26/12/07". That way you can tell simply from glancing at your assets window when they're OK to be recycled.

that, or petition to have it fixed. I mean there should be an easier way to get rid of audit-log secures, whilst maintaining their security.
Like, say, have a setting that "locks" the can into the station for 4 weeks, after those 4 weeks, the locker guy will get a notice (and only him) that the can is unlocked and can be trashed once it's empty.
This way assigned logistics/director/CEO's can maintain their inventories at little bother and great help to the database since audit-log secures dont just build up after a while because people cant get rid of them. -

Edited by: Raging Knight on 04/12/2007 10:43:39 Well they are like this for obvious reasons. I agree that it might be a good idea to set rights or something on them, however i find they work just fine. I have had this situtation quite a few times, when moving from one area to another. I always just name the container 'Empty - Date of last log' just ignore it for three weeks, pretty simple. If you are that impatint and feel you will be driven mad and forced to quite eve by the cans staring at you for three weeks, contract to and alt... or if in a nice busy system, open guests choose a nice looking chap, name the can sweets and trade it over, i bet you will get a taker

You are trying to fix the WRONG problem.
When searching in assets there should be a dropdown menu:-
Search All. Search Hangars. Search Cans. --

They work like they do exactly so that you can not trash, recycle, repackage them.
Putting in a way to bypass this would be like installing a state of the art burglary system and have a button outside that switches it all off.
