I recently acquired a Thrasher BPO and as I'm looking for something with a little more punch then my Rifter does but is still cheap enough to lose on a regular basis (mostly for wolf-packing and general low-sec belt piracy), I was looking at the Thrasher.
Of course, having less actual lows/mids then a Rifter is a pain (only ship type that has less mids/lows then their smaller brothers), but I find the Thrasher has decent agility (better then a Jaguar, in fact) and alright speed. I was wondering wether any of actual people who use the (Agony Unleashed, for example) have any setup ideas on it?
I was mostly looking at a AC fit since I don't have AWU yet (and I think I'd need like AWU V to actually fit a sensible arty setup), although if anyone has a good idea about a arty fit, I'm open to reccomendations.

Easy on skills and money, I'd prolly just go with something like:
7x 200mm AC's
Mwd, scram, TD
2x CPR
Should be cap stable everything running, halfdecent speed and around 100 dps

It is very possible to fit artillery with AWU 4. The following setup is a glass cannon approach to the thrasher, has absolutely no defence but a very mean alphastrike:
7x 280mm II
2x Sensorbooster II (for podkill-whorage  )
1x Dampener II
PDU II
Gyrostab II
Amount of SB and dampeners can be changed, depends on your preference.
Not the cheapest setup around, but very funny to fly. Downside is the need of a tackler, but as you stated wolfpack-use you probably have acces to tacklers anyway.

Hmmm, I don't like the TD as it doesn't really give you much especially after the TD nerf, and skills are no real issue - I can preety much permarun a MWD w/out any cap mods and run a MWD+distruptor for quite a bit before cap death.
The third midslot is quite likely going to be a named/T1 MSE, or something of the sort.
I actually find the speed with the worst named MWD to be quite decent, nearly 2km/s. I'm currently debating wether to go all out-damage with two gyrostab Is in lows (gives me roughly 145 DPS using T1 guns with my skills or something, can't check atm) or fit a DC I to give me more buffer. I'll have to run some numbers, obviously, and give it a whirl in combat to see how it goes.
T2 gear is of course out of the window, I'm looking at a cheap practically suicide ship which I can mass-produce

7x Highest Level T2 Small Arties
2x SB
Tracking Comp
2x Gyro
Instafrig/pod/othersmallship killer in 0.0 gate camps

Needs AWU V to fit it all..... but slap in a pg implant or downgrage on of the guns to the tier under and you should be fine (downgrading one works for AWU III)

Feel like its a semi competition... your posting just before/after me in almost every thread this morning.

It's late night for me...
But it's DT and I should be sleeping/studying....
But back on topic, I wouldnt really use a Thrasher much for solo PvP. Wolfpacks/support for gate camps is where Dessys really shine. YOu got a HG Slave set.... not anymore ;D
With decent skills the setup I had before has over 1500 scan res.... ;D

Mmm, but I live in low-sec and I hear dessies don't tank sentries very well. It's just that I'm looking for something with more punch to it, most likely for small group ops. Plus, podding people is less important then getting their loot anyway, since all you get is a nice corpse, and corpses don't sell well ;)
Plus, I want it to be cheap: i run a small frig/T1 mod manufacturing business off reprocessed junk, and I was thinking that I could actually make it cost about 1M total instead of a 2.5-3M Rifter I typically fly while doing more damage / having more buffer. A T2 fit destroyer would take considerably more kills to pay itself off, so I don't want to go down that route.
At any rate, thanks for the suggestions, I think I've got it worked out relatively well, will just have to test it in the field when I get to play some EvE.
