Well, there aren't really any large fleet battles on Singularity. But so far, the new engine has been running quite well for me.

This is exactly what the new engine is supposed to do: reduce client-side lag.
However, overloaded nodes, that's something no engine can fix.

Trinity fixes a lot of client-side lag-spike issues, like rendering the graphics for one finally onto a GPU where it belongs, instead of hogging up the CPU.
Lag on the serverside due to overloaded nodes however... weeeeellll..... -

There are 2 clients, the Premium Client and the Classic one. The premium client have all the graphical improvements and all the new content there is listed in the patchnotes moving the load from CPU to GPU etc.
The Classic client adds all the stuff that is mentioned in the patchnotes, including removing the load on the CPU and moving the load over to the GPU. So basicly if you choose the classic client you should get improved FPS and less lag in fights.
If your machine is +3-4 years old I would rather run the classic client, even if it supports SM3. --- It have always fallen to a few to sacrifice for the good of many

We will see. I have hopes that there will be some performance improvements. Patch notes mentioned a few things of note: a) the client will no longer attempt to load the entire UI when warping to a large fleet battle. Ships will load first, allowing you to lock them before loading the entire scene. b) drones have had their ROF decreased, but damage increased. This puts out the same amount of DPS, but has the added benefit of requiring less server calls. If drones are shooting less, then the info doesn't need to be passed to the server as often.
There are more changes related to the "need for speed". Every little bit helps, and the changes should speed things up quite a bit in fleet engagement, i'm expecting. But of course, I will kick back and take a "wait and see" attitude first. ~~~ This is my sig. Do you like it? ~~~ |

Word, and dont forget;
c) Every single npc rat that gets killed on a node now only has to serve out the bounties in one huge lump sum, instead of 1 microtransaction every 30 seconds or so. Thats gonna make things generally less laggy as well.
