Doing the mining for Veldspar tutorial, getting attacked by pirates, and not making any impression. Better firepower needed but are there any relatively cheap weapons for a newbie?

Hade the same problem whit the starting tutorial. The training drone didnŠt recive any damage whit the newb ship. Hade to pass that and go on whit the agent tutorial.

Thanks for that, have to miss that mission probably, not that easy for newbies is it. Try some other missions perhaps. Tks

I did that mission a few days ago with no problem, just make sure you get close enough to the pirates so that your weapon is effective, or even better just find some more veld in another system with no pirates hangin about the roid belt

i just bought the ore from the market
when it comes to killing training drones at the end of your tutorial remember to activate your civilian shield booster and just fly in close

Finished that mission a few days ago....
lock the drone and power up shield,right click on target and select aproach or select distance of 50m and let your laser do the talking....it took quite a few hits but finally you do destroy it...make a cup of tea while you r waiting...!

I think 50m may be too close. Find the optimum range for your weapon (right-click, select "Show Info"), then lock the target and orbit the baddies at that range (right-click target, select "Orbit" and the range you want). Too far away, and you won't do much damage; too close, and your weapon can't track the target fast enough (this becomes more noticeable later with the longer-range howitzers and railguns).

rightklick on your weapon showinfo show on optimal range z.b. 6km select target orbit 5km
