I always wanted to have a closer look on my opponents ships and be able to maneuver my ship simultaneously. So, I came up with an idea of a scopecam - a small (or not so small) window, where any ship/object which is being your current Selected Item is shown.
Direction of view is selected object, always. Point of view is your ship. This lets you understand what direction does selected ship fly. Although POV is fixed, it is fixed with "rubber strings" so you can always spin selected ship with pressed LMB a bit to check guns type/etc. POV is restored to default as soon as you unpress LMB.
Magnification, size and location of scopecam window is customizable. Button activating scopecam should be somewhere near "look at" button.
With the help of scopecam we understand now what direction does selected ship fly. But what about the speed? Sure it is shown in Overview tab, but looking with one eye to scopecam and keeping another on speed in Overview tab is beyond human abilities. Glancing from scopecam to Overview and back is very inconvenient too. So, seems like scopecam must have an ability to show some tactical information. Speed is mandatory, other (everything available from Overview tab) will be nice too.
Sure all options must be customizable and disableable.
Pros:
- scopecam is an excellent source of aesthetic pleasure and tactical information.
Cons:
- minor performance decrease |

Being able to monitor the transversal and direction your opponent is moving in, in relation to yourself would be a very nice feature.
Also the explosion... |

It would be clientside only, no performance impact on servers. |

This would go great with my new Superstructure idea: A Space Roller Coaster
It would be a giant roller coaster in space with Shuttles strapped to it, and each shuttle would have a MicroWarpdrive. It would be a Gallente Superstructure, since they are big on entertainment.
It would cost 1000 ISK per ride, and all payments would go to the owner (thus being an ISK Sink if it belongs to an NPC). It would also include a small Maintainance Tax, thus being an ISK Sink even if it is player-owned (the owner gets 95% of the payment, while the other 5% goes into maintainance). This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine. |
