Do passive targeters work, and if so, how are you supposed to use them?
I had selected the module when I wanted to lock someone, and it requsted I choose a target. I clicked on a target, the target locked, but the module never went on. After I had the target locked, I clicked the module and it finally started flashing green.
What's the point of a passive targeter if the other ship knows I locked them???

Activate the module and pick the person to lock on in the autoscanner rather than on the main screen, i think ^^;

Last time i tried them they did NOT work, might have changed though.
It's just strange, as they used to work perfectly in the past.

Activate the module, lock the target using the crosshair coming on the screen. That's all there is to it, and they DO work now apparently.

Using a cargo scanner with a passive targetter, would that mean that you can scan cargo undetected?

Ok forgive me if I am wrong but I would have thought a passive or "auto"-targetting system would target as many targets as you can handle (skills etc) starting with the closest targets first. Oh and it ignores asteroids and the like ...

No...FoF missiles do not track on who has you target locked anyway. They track on ships that have fired on you (thus 'proving' themselves as a foe). Once you fire on a ship passive stops being passive and the target lock is apparent to the target ship.

ok, a necro' but
ive recently used pasive targetters. If i activate module then selelect ship, it targets. when targetted there is NO icon next to target ship at top right of screen.
if i target a ship, then activate the module, an icon of the module appears next to target ship at top right of screen.
now, I'm assuming, that when i activate first, then click target, although no icon shows, the enemy is passive targetted.
and im assuming, if i target normally, then activate module, an icon shows next to enemy icon at top right, but they are not passiveley targetted 'cause i targeted them manually first.
is this what I should be seeing?
