Reason is that i'd like to know if people basically have the same irritations when it comes to gameplay. Please, keep it to a top 3 and explain why.
I'll go first...
1. Extreme changes
With this i mean that one day stuff works a certain way and then suddenly the next day the dynamics are changed dramatically. I can understand (for instance) the castor patch, but for an npc farmer it was basically the end of his or her line of work (what i did before castor and also the reason for my first BS loss after castor). I guess its the same for hardcore pvp people that suddenly get the sentrygun range increased. I'd like the patches to become more frequent, but the changes it brings to be more gradual.
2. Three characters
This is not "The Sims"... i personally think 3 different chars was a really bad idea. Just like real life, you should think about what you want your main character to become. Now you can be mr. niceguy in corp #1, be a pirate in corp #2 and haul ammo to your pirate char when he or she is being blockaded with the third character. Somehow this doesnt sound fair at all. Sure, you could buy a second account and use that if only one char was allowed per account, but that should be the "price" to pay for a second life in this game.
3. Corporation / Teamwork
What are your options as a legal corporation, teamwork-wise? Mine ore or get some tech1 loot. What happens when everyone gets bored? They all do their seperate thing. What happens when they turn pirate (because of extreme boredom)? The ones with massive online time eventually switch to one of the well-known pirate corporations and the ones with limited time become lone outlaws.
=====
To sum it all up: Crime in this game is reaching new highs every day, mainly because people are getting bored of the lack of things to do as a corporation legally. Yet, changes are instant and being able to adapt depends on the time you spend online. Still, you can keep a healthy main character if you are willing to spend money for 2 (or more) accounts and do some battleship mining (why oh why didnt they think about "mininglaser hardpoints", battleships are not meant to mine) and haul at the same time.

Griefers. Why? Because they destory the game for everyone else. Most Pirates aren't griefers and there is a difference in the two.
The slow release of new tech bp's. Agent missions are huge cop-out on the release of tech 2.
Zero Content. No special ships for each class of player. It's warships and haulers. Big whoopee. The agent missions are all Go to area "A" then go to area "B". Then return for your reward. The rewards blow chunks. I would say the only content that is in eve-online right now is the player base pirate corperation(s) that wage war on other factions ( You know who you are ).
So why do I play. Mostly to shoot the ****e with my friends online and train skills for when the ccp do decide to get off their butts and do something. Until then all I can do is wait.

I started Eve (in January) for the PvP. Most people who complain about the game seem to be people who want to do everything they can to avoid PvP. This game mechanics are very clever, and the game has some excellent features that are not typical of most MMORPGs, but fundamentally, it is a PvP game. That's why it's lacking in "content", and that's why we have the whole "carebear vs. pirate" debate. If the carebears got off their butts, and took some chances, and went out and tried to kill pirates in all those shiny new battleships they use to mine with, this game would be way more fun. (not that it's not fun now, but it seems to be fun mostly for the "pirates" - i.e. pvp'ers, and not so fun for people who just want to be able to mount 7 miner 2's). As I understand, the game was never meant to be the "everquest of space simulators" - correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't this game intended primarily as a PvP game?

1) The game is fun and all...but theres not really a point to fighting eachother other then "its fun to blow stuff up"(...which it is ), "they annoy me", or "i want your stuff"
2) Superior numbers > all ... most of the time.
3) The storyline has fu,k all to do with what happens in the game ... only very indirectly. (which is a shame cause the storyline is well nice)
guess thats the top3 for me :P but overall the game has gotten much much better lately.

Quote: As I understand, the game was never meant to be the "everquest of space simulators" - correct me if I'm wrong here, but isn't this game intended primarily as a PvP game?
Well i'll answer you YES and NO. The thing many people miss here is that EVE isnt primarily a PVP game or a minning or trading game, or what-not. It's ALL of that put together. You need to get cash for ships and ammo, and minning is one of the ways to do it. You need to defend yourself to get what you need, so you MUST fight. It's innevitable. OR you can just go and toast ppl for fun! What makes EVE so awesome is your ability to choose what you want to do. This is just my opinion but i think those who complain because they dont have their lives made easy in the specific "area" of game play they chose to follow are wrong about EVE.
I do alot of things in EVE, from trading to minning to PVP. It's all fun, but if i concentrate on only one of those things for too long it gets really boring really fast. I don't know how anyone can do the same thing over and over again. But that's prolly just me...
3 things i find most annoying in EVE:
1. Carebears (miners are NOT the only carebears in the game) 2. Smack talk and insults on local 3. CCP's response to ppl who suffer losses due to known bugs or exploits. (REALLY annoying) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "You humans are extremely irritant with your illogical behaviour and irrational thought" -------- |

YES you do. 2. people always moaning at CCP about how bad this is and how bad that is... steb back and look at the fact that they have made a game that has yet beaten anything that is currently out, in MMORPGs... One recurring item seems to be the Alts, or "Three Characters".
Plus i think its safe to say a second account isnt considered an alt, because it will have a main char you build up just like the other account. -------

3. The Lack of a dynamic office-rental system that would keep people from hoarding offices.
2. The fact that NPC agents are even in the game at all, much less the only way to get certain items.
1. The complete & total lack of any interactive storyline that lasts longer than one hour [ the current polaris roleplay thingys ] & the fact that even those short events are never preannounced. -- Jump Drive Operation / Rank 5 / SP: 1280000 of 1280000

Edited by: Parallax Error on 11/03/2004 01:51:20 1. Alts
2. Standings meaning little to nothing. I can bash Sansha's all day then dock at their stations etc etc etc.
3. NPC's being an utter waste of time, I'd much rather them act like in freelancer. Actual convoys moving along actual routes, pirates moving about etc etc.
4. The severe lack of distinctness in the ship classes and their roles (Battleship > everything else in most situations).
5. The lack of 'mining hardpoints' they need to be implemented. Instant fix to Battleship mining and would make the ships blessed with alot of these slots desireable.
6. Ships need to take much much longer to manufacture, battleships should take days to make not hours.
7. The utter lack of useful tools to track, hunt and follow targets. You finally manage to find a target more through luck than anything, then once they warp away all you can hope is you guess the right destination and they dont have a safe spot bookmark setup.

1. Alts that post trollings or psuedo intellectual claptrap you are expected to take seriously.
2. Alt war corps that contain the alts of characters to cowardly to declare war themselves.
3. Alts that scurry around doing the jobs of their mains (who are in declared wars) but like hiding from the consquences.
PS.
And the fact that in-game chat is insecure and so are some of the people who don't like roleplaying ;)

1) Lack of dynamic content to make the world feel real and to tie in the fantastic stories that got me intrested in eve in the first place.
2) Battleship blob wars where fleets sit staring at each other for hours and no one wants to make a move.
3) Battleships everywhere, they cost too much for folk to throw them into battle and people cry and whine when they loose them. CCP needs to get more folk back into cruisers and frigs.
4) Empire space and its stupid security system. Beta was better at least you got a bit of healthy fear jumping around. You never knew what was going to be through the next jump gate.

- People who whine constantly, without offering constructive solutions, but continue to play the game.
- Bugs that have been there forever (Derelict, anyone?) or that come back from the dead.
- The lack of tools available to make a decent living/profession out of some key roles, e.g. trading, bountyhunting.
- Only being allowed to choose 3 things

1) Chokepoints in the form of Jumpgates, creating a weakness of genuine combat tactics within game.
2) Battleships being able to easily destroy frigates (not all the time but 1 or two hits can be annoying)
3) Not being able to "Hack" stargates to lock them to your use only. (yes i know it may be a flawed concept in the eyes of some people but im not posting to debate that) ----------------------------------------------- |

Bug been there since beta, and I still wonder how many people have it: it's the most annoying thing in Eve for me EVER
2) Xetic/IF's: "Xetic passing, don't shoot" in local ... when they pass you with another indy. Although you have a NAP, it would be nice to see them doing something else once in a while.
3) The long login's ... which can take up to 5 minutes. |

1. Production, large items like BS, should take ages to make. There supposed to be large ships. Not just 4 more hours then a cruiser. Maybe also more then one fact slot needed to. 2. There are very few events that have any impact on the game. In fact nothing really has an impact on the game, the closest was the zombie take out, yes lots of ppl lost ships and died. But the result was longer range on sentry guns that effected everyone every where. 3. R&D agents. Thats a joke, after spending millions, and hours researching, i find that it is a lottery as if/when or ever i will get a BP. Why the hell should i bother with the missions, or the expense of them any more. I make RP just by having the agent, and just the same chance of 'winning' a Tech 2 BP.

1) People totally disregarding any respect for CCP personel. They have to take way to much crap from people who really should be ashamed by their behaviour. Do you think its normal to behave like this to a manager of a hotel if you're staying there?
2) People not regarding the RPG aspect of the game and taking this way too serious. Don't use this as an outlet for your own frustrations. Rather use it as way to relax and have fun playing it.
3) I could mention alts, but I don't have a problem witht hem. Prolly EVE could sell more accounts if they removed the alts. And everyone screaming alts are a nuisance really helps to remove the alts. Or complaining about bugs not being fixed. True that I don't like as much as anyone else. But don't whine that much about it. They are working on it OK!? Rather use petitions and help them out to fix things for the better. But my 3rd goes to cheaters. Using sploits, macros or other ways to undermine the game itself is really not helping. We all pay to play and if you cheat you are stealing from the collective eve contributors. It also spoils your own fun and it doesn't prove that you're a worthy player, just that you are an anti-social sob. There is more than enough room to use your intelligence to find the loopholes in the game mechanics itselfs. ___________________________ Favorite bumpersticker of the month: My head hurts! |

1- Bugs They SHOULD never have been there, but they are still there after ****load of patches (IE drone interface). Plus they introduce new bugs with patches? wtf? Bugs should be with the new content, not with the old one!!
2- Content MMORPGs are good because of content. This game does not have whatsoever any content at all. At least, make us participate on the crierle (whatever its written) incident and make our actions change content. Or put uber rats to kill; like titans?
3- Changes not told Ok, patches messages are not easy to find out. They should be very easy to find (IE on the download page). Next, they do NOT tell about radical changes (IE 150km sentries). This kind of "missing information" is unacceptable in my idea. --------------------------

1. lack of corporation controls for larger corps. 2. lack of ability to "control" space, and accurately keep track of kills and losses by ship class in fights. 3. Slllllooooooooowwwwww release of tech 2, yes letting it all out in one big patch would have been too fast, but come one, its now the middle of march and we've got cap recharger II's and some other cheap azz modules, and yes interceptors... where are the recon frigates, the meta-mods, the reverse engineering of dropped tech2 items, the newer battleships... I've seen some configurations of bs's with t2 items that make them into invulnerable machines... we need the rest of tech2 to be able to fight back.. or we'll all just end up flying inpenetrable ships at each other for pvp...
