I propose that we change the training queue system by allowing you to queue 2 skills, or 24 hours worth of skills, which ever is greater. So a 1 day noob could have dozens of skills queued for those 24 hours, but an older player with 1 day left of a skill can put in another 2 week(or month, depending on how old the toon is and what skill it is) skill to train before going away for the weekend.
I just lost 2.5 hours of training time because my skill queue lapsed, I assume I have no recourse.
Another suggestion would be to start training a skill queued on another character in the same account (also I want a button that will pause skills training on another toon on the same account to allow the current toon to train). If the toon with the active skill queue has an empty queue, it go to the toon with the most recently active queue, and starts training that one, so no training time is "wasted" even if it is "dispersed" |

The Skill Queue is already 24 hours. But a 48 hour or 72 hour queue would be nice. I guess it could depend on how many characters you have training. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine. |

This is a good idea, logging out and back in twice just to pause a skill sucks.
However, the "24h or two skills" queue isn't really needed. The 24h queue was added to remove the need for an alarm clock to train skills, now you just have to log on sometime during the 24h before your queue ends. It has already been made simple, it doesn't need to be dumbed down any more. (hint: if you use EVEMon, as most people do, it'll start yelling at you when you have <24h in your queue) |

CCP Zulu..... Forcing players to dock at the captain's quarters is a form of what we actually wanted to get through, which is making Incarna a seamless part of the EVE Online experience. |

Meh, yesterday, I got back from the lab at 5ish, couldn't put a new skill in yet... forgot to do so before going to sleep. Today, I get back from the lab at 7ish, by the time I get settled in and log on, my skill queue is empty, and has been for 2.5 hours.
Not a huge loss, but still annoying. While a queue is a massive improvement over the old system, I think 24 hours is still a bit too short. I think an alternate queue system based on a number of skills, rather than the training time of the skills, would be nice. I realize it would be a ***** for noobs, which is why I propose an either/or system that is time based, or skill # based

There's your problem! EveMon is your skill queue without limit.
24 hours means I can have a life instead of babysitting my training setting. 2.5 hours isn't much of a loss, just an annoyance. I've lost over a two years due to various periods of non-subscription.

EVEMon is great for helping you plan your skill training, among other things. In addition, EVEMon is very light when it comes to CPU and Memory load. I rarely ever have it turned off.
Just remember that EVEMon does't play the game for you, so you still have to manage your skill queue. EVEMon just helps you do it more effeciently. This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine. |

How can you even play this game without eve mon?
You dont expect ccp to make the lumbering skill system easier to use themselves?

Sounds like a PEBKAC error to me, which is avoidable. EVEMon will pretty much eliminate that problem though, it gives you a nice display of what's training and for how long is remaining on it when you're not in game. It doesn't prevent skill time from being lost, but it does help minimize it (and it's helpful for a ton of other stuff too).
And think of it this way, for the measly price of 2.5h of training time you learned a very important lesson about making sure your skill queue is full (be glad you didn't go on a week long vacation and forget there's only 36h on your current skill, that's a lousy feeling).
tl;dr: The current system works, it just helps to have some reminders. And "It was only 2.5h" is the right attitude. |

I remember when we didn't even have a skill queue. Yup...had it freaking written in my calendar or kept a very close eye on EvEMon on every computer I had.
When they made the skill queue to begin with they had stated that they made it short because they didn't want people making a queue that was a month long and then just not logging in at all during that month. With the queue being short you have a reason to log in every day and there is a chance something in the game might encourage you to stay logged in and play.
