Right.. relax is the key word. Lots of people whining about these missions. Those upset because they come from their combat agents, I agree. I have to get my PVP character up to do the combat missions my Mining agent gives which is a pain as well.
Mining missions should be for those who have skill mining. Kill missions should be for those who have skill killing. Mining Mission = 95% Mining, 5% courier. Kill mission = 95% Kill, 5% courier. The agents in between should still NOT mix mining with Kill. add in courier etc etc, leave the mining to the Miners. people doing kill missions "usually" despise mining, THAT is why they are doing kill missions, and chances are good, they dont have SQUAT for mining skills.. My Mining character might be able to run lvl 2 kill missions in his Hulk, theres no way he will run lvl 3's in it. he has NO combat skills except the drones, which arent gonna cut it on lvl 3 and 4 missions
Having said that... balance on the missions may suck, but it will change. CCP takes a bit to lvl out the playing field but they usually do a good job given time.
Why would anyone do them?
To relax and have fun.. why else? Sitting back with a coffee, reading the news, or a paper. Ripping away at some roids to gain standings and LP with a skillset previously useless in doing just that.
Corp is war dec'd, Ore thieves abound, the game is becoming a DRAG to do ANYTHING un-molested, at least when it comes to relaxing after a hard day at work.
you come home, dirty, tired and beat up, shower, and sit down to play and relax. Mine a bit, maybe build a BS for some pvper or mission runner.. log in, and find out your corp has been war dec'd by a group of idiots thinking you will pay them 500 mil isks to remove the war... wrong!!! Remove roles, wait 24 hours, leave corp, go mine.. Ore thieves show up before your first can is full. Leave the system and go somewhere else.. realize, they are following you... log out, wait 24 hours
log in, go mine again... you make it to the second can before the ore thieves show up..you get ****ed, bring your pvper into protect.. Attack the thief, and ten BC's warp in.. you fight to the end, taking one or two of them with you but lose your BS.. log out...
Theres a chance the scammers that CCP seems to love so much will find your mission spot, and start to exploit it, but i also feel that CCP will do something about it. (If they dont, there isnt much point in having the agents.) making the unusuall ores only mine-able by the one who got the mission or something similar. At this point, the Mining missions are pretty much the ONLY way to relax AND play eve.. if you want adrenalin, theres all sorts of things to do. I'm OLD, and tired, and like i said, at the end of a hard day, the last thing i want is MORE adrenalin, i will leave that to the kiddies who think if your not a pvper you dont belong in the game, more power to them. Im quite happy mining for little reward and small LP. As long as i can relax, and enjoy myself, which is kinda the point in paying for "a game". there are times i like the adrenalin,and have a blast hunting in 0.0 or running lvl 4 missions, but as i get older, those times seem to be less frequent..
give CCP time and see what happens.
