I have seen all the threads on how to fix this problem but mine is a tad bit different. I have windows setup on my E:/ drive instead of C so when I go to Windows Repair it can not find the boot files. I receive this message after attempt to bootcfg /rebuild:
Error: Failed to successfully scan disks for Windows installations. This error may be caused by a corrupt file system, which would prevent Bootcfg from successfully scanning. Use chkdsk to detect any disk errors.
After that I run chkdsk to find that there are no problems. Does anyone know how to fix this. Is there a way to just switch to the other harddrive so that it is looking for E:\WINDOWS instead of C:\WINDOWS? Or am I completely SOL and have to reformat?
Any help would be much appreciated. The Known Issues Board doesn't seem to be helping.

If your windows setup is anywhere other than your C drive, or if your boot.ini file was never in the C directory (assuming you've turned on show hidden files and show system files), then you have nothing to worry about. ---------------- Tarminic - 29 Million SP in pink Forum Warfare |

Well I do because my boot.ini file is gone. Right now I am on my laptop because my desktop can't boot up. Says I am missing the system32 and boot files. And now I can't use MS recovery because it is searching for boot files from C:\WINDOWS. There is nothing there, everything is in E:\WINDOWS. when I go in and try the: * Attrib -H -R -S C:\Boot.ini * DEL C:\Boot.ini * BootCfg /Rebuild * Fixboot I get an error that says: The parameter is not valid. Then when I try it with E:\boot.ini I get the same thing.
When I try DEL C:\Boot.ini I get: No matching files were found. And when I try to rebuild I get the error that I printed out above in the original post.

Well if EVE is on your E drive it probably would have deleted it, sorry for the misinterpretation but I was under the assumption that EVE was on your C drive while Windows was on your E drive. However, the fix listed on the main site should still work, just replace "C:/" with "E:/" ---------------- Tarminic - 29 Million SP in pink Forum Warfare |

It's not a bug, boost.ini was obviously overpowered. ----------------------
