this whole boot.ini stuff
some people are over reacting just a tad yeah ccp f@cked up but who here can honestly say they have never made a mistake.
for instance take mcdonalds or burger king they are always iun the news for failing saftey standereds and all that. you moan for about a day but soon forget it and eat one of there burgers.
ccp offer us a great game and we take it off them they made a mistake. so? whats the worst happened you lose ur computer data you run that risk everytime you turn ur computer on be it viruses and hackers yes firewalls and virus killers limit this problem but its still a risk.
all im saying is ccp are friends they messed up but now there trying to fix it instead of moaning and threatening them work with them offer ur logs and errors help them work on helping others to fix this issue.
ccp are redfaced over this isnt that enough without us pitching in and having a pop they dont need it.
work with them not against them

Sure everyone makes mistakes, however the deployment of a patch is a process. It was supposed to be tested. I think people are ****ed off because it is just careless to have this happen at all. It brings into clear focus the spotty testing and change control process.
For the record this did not affect me at all.

ccp admitted their fault and are doing a good job of trying to fix things so people can get back online faster.

Let's say you head to the gas station and put in some gas. Then, you drive home. When you turn on your car in the morning, it won't turn on. You ask your friends if they had the same issue, and one tells you "yeah, the gas at that station breaks cars!" "If you have a wrench you should be able to fix it pretty easily though, you don't need to replace any parts."
Are you going to stop being mad at the gas station for breaking your car?
What if you've never messed with the internals of a car before, and don't trust yourself with them?
Most people are going to call a tow truck, pay to get it fixed, and then demand compensation from the gas station.
Welcome to real life.

I'll agree that there's too much *****ing and fingerpointing in the long thread - hard to find information in all the crap. I found my fix in the thread and posted it there to thank the guy that put it up. That being said:
Having a patch screw up the display of planets on systems using ME only would be an error. This impacts maybe half the player base. I wouldn't have been caught in it, but my AV patched last night needing a reboot. I'm seeing the humor in this now - wasn't earlier, though.
One way to speed up the game is to reduce the # of people online.

you missed me here CCP released a patch, it deletes a critical operating system file. When people reboot their system is unusable. This is not circumstantial evidence.

What about those non-technical people who only have one computer?
