Yeah, I'm a recovering WoWplayer and Eve newb and I have a few questions.
At what level of craft could I at least expect to put up a decent fight in low sec space? Is there a such thing as a "starting zone" for lower level pvp?
I don't expect to warp in somewhere and wtfpwn anywhere, in fact, I expect I'll be losing ships for awhile once I start leaning toward low sec, but I'd at least like to be equipped enough to put on a good show for myself. Anyone know of any basic guides out there, some tactics ideas, reccomendations, anything? I just started playing last weekend and still trying to figure this game out.
Thanks for any help you might offer.

grab a frig and go crazy. quickest way to learn. Larger guns will have a hard time tracking you, but some ships might be able to lol tank you :> - We are anonymous. We Are legion. |

I've got a merlin right now, 2 125mm railguns, 2 missle launchers that I got from the military training missions, small hull repair, shield booster iirc, afterburner.
Nothing special

A general tip. - Put the types of weapons on your ships for which they receive a bonus.
For example, don't put lasers on your Caldari ships, because if you bother to read the description of most Caldari ships, it likely says that you get some type of bonus to missiles and/or hybrid turrets. ---- I am Super Cool

Go see Agony about this. You'll be doing great after a few of their classes.

Thanks for the recommendation, Strife!
I've heard of stories of new players PvPing right after they started the game. Personally, it took me about three months of experience with good people before I felt comfortable.
The key to being successful is to choose your targets carefully. By knowing your strengths and their weaknesses, you know in advance what your odds of success are. Punishers and Rifters can take out up to battlecruiser size ships, provided they don't have friends and are poorly set up. In order to get to this level of expertise, you need experience and help. You'll make mistakes, just be sure to learn from them. Using cheap ships like frigates is also good, then when you lose a ship it doesn't hurt as much.
Have a look at the link in my sig, and feel free to PM me questions on the Agony site.
