Prior to trinity I could run one installation of Eve and two accounts simultaneously. Since Trinity I've encountered two issues.
1. Issue one (fixed) -- Performance loss when running two sessions at once. Fixed for me by installing a second client, with it's own shortcut. No problem with that.
2. Issue two (standing) -- Game resolution carrying over between both installs. I.e. I want one account to start up as 1280x1024, and the other to start up at 1680x1050. As it stands right now, I have to adjust the setting each time I start up a session. Pre-trinity it seemed to be stored purely based on the player you load up, and not on the computer you're playing on.
Nope, it's not game breaking. I'm not here to whine. I'm just curious if anyone else is experiencing this, and if they've found a work around.

/end /lua:off not help at all? seperate the cache of the two clients you are running?

I wish I'm not suffering a performance loss when running 2 clients :(

Ok, my first issue is now happening again. I tried /end /lua:off and it didn't seem to help.
I think you maybe on to something with the cache. How does one go about getting eve to have separate cache folders?
I'm guessing the improvement I had last night was due to both clients not having a chance to screw with each other yet, and being essentially purely seperate.

/end /lua:off should seperate the cache for the two clients when applied to the shortcut for each. Urban myth has it that it's caps sensitive, in which case it should read "/end /lua:OFF"
Report back and let us know how you get on. I'm having larger problems with my rig as a whole, and so haven't been able to test multiple monitors on Trinity yet. When I do, I'll be trying to run two clients at two seperate resolutions in windowed mode using EVEmover to "maximise" the clients. Before the patch, /end /lua:OFF allowed me to do this...

Edited by: Balaurah on 07/12/2007 01:20:23 I presume that lua:off (in theory) only works for seperate clients, not seperate logins per client?
duh, just read post above this one. no way to get back old functionality of per-account resolution one 1 install then i take it?

CCP should just implement better settings handling. And get EVE's files out of my Dip****s & Screwups folders. -

No, I can't. If Microsoft told CCP to jump off a cliff, would they? -

make a file called eve.bat and write this inside:
@echo off REM Some pathnames set EVEPATH=%CD% set RAMPATH=%EVEPATH%\cache set PROFPATH=%EVEPATH%\UserProfile REM the only reason for this variable is to combat word-wrap on eve-o. set SETDIR=Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\settings
@echo "Creating infrastructure under '%PROFPATH%'" mkdir "%PROFPATH%\Local Settings\Application Data" mkdir "%PROFPATH%\My Documents"
IF NOT EXIST "%PROFPATH%\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\History.txt" ( @echo "Copying over old files and settings..." REM Copy over old data from USERPROFILE xcopy /C /I /D /K /R /E /H /Y "%USERPROFILE%\%SETDIR%" "%PROFPATH%\%SETDIR%" REM Copy over old data from local Cache, if extant xcopy /C /I /D /K /R /E /H /Y "%EVEPATH%\cache\settings" "%PROFPATH%\%SETDIR%" @echo "Done!" )
REM Don't worry, USERPROFILE isn't getting set outside of this process. set USERPROFILE=%PROFPATH%
"%EVEPATH%\eve.exe" /end /LUA:OFF
make a copy of this eve.bat for each of ur eve clients and put it in the main client directiory and run the game with it. hope this helps.
i found that in the forums long time ago and im using it ever since, dont remember who made it but all credits go to him.

Deleted Cache. Added toggles to shortcuts, including all caps for "OFF". Eve is still sharing settings between both clients and causing the same performance hit as if I was using one.
I'm going to uninstall then reboot, and then re-install both clients and see if my performance is solid prior to rebooting after.
Long shot, I'm sure, but it's the only variable I can see from last night to today, that I performed on my end.

I will give that a shot. Is that keeping your settings separate between clients in Trinity as well?

It runs the batch file ok, after I disable UAC in Vista. But when it tries to start the client, it loads up the basic Eve splash, but won't fire up the client fully. That may be a Vista issue, that I need to sort out. I will see what I can think of.

Ok, settings are now separated between clients.
Cheers for all the help.
/end /LUA:OFF <--- LUA must be in caps also, worked for me. I couldn't get the batch file working still, but as a pure command line toggle for each shortcut, I can now save graphics settings, audio, separately.
The performance hit is still occurring, but tweaking the clients may help that. It still seems like everything worked so much better right after 2 fresh seperate installs, last night, but just saving the settings is a big help.

Update:
Performance increased by reducing the cache size in game, on each client. Much smoother performance while running dual clients, and using the said shortcut toggles. Both clients are running the new graphics, but not HDR. Nvidia 7950 GT KO 512. 1680x1050 and 1280x1024 simultaneous. 4 gigs of RAM. Vista 64 Ultimate. AMD 6000 dual core. Granted it's not as smooth as original, but both clients are running improved graphics enabled.
Not a great fix it for everyone, but it's a start in the right direction for me, at least.
Cheers for the assistance.

I'm also finding running a second account on one client now seems to be giving both accounts very poor performance. Reading this thread seems encouraging. But a couple of ??'s:
In the batch file: Originally by: fugimi make a file called eve.bat and write this inside:
@echo off
etc etc
"%EVEPATH%\eve.exe" /end /LUA:OFF
Does this last line become ""%EVEPATH%\eve2.exe" /end /LUA:OFF" for the 2nd client?
