So lets make an assumption... I know nothing about my PC outside of the fact that I play a game on it, and it normally works. Now it doesnt work that well and I am wondering do I buy another PC or what ever, I read the forums best I can... and they talk to me like I know the inside of my PC (I dont).
I dont know where my Boot.ini file is, I dont want to know where it is either, I am not interested in where it is, or what it does, I do not want to have to learn about my PC to play this game, I enjoy playing this game so what do I do?
I came home drunk last night, I think I downloaded the new stuff, but have not connected to it/ accepted it yet, it keeps asking me though! I spent the afternoon today taking the machine apart, I really enjoyed that, it is now back together again, it kept cutting out, I thought it might be overheating, I can understand that.
So before I take the 'make your own PC' course, is there a really simple way, however time consuming to sort this out?
Delete EVE, reload EVE, play something else?

I may have missed exactly what you were asking, but:
* if you only downloaded the normal patch (Classic Mode) without the graphics upgrade then there shouldn't be a problem
* to check for boot.ini type "cmd" without the quotation marks in the Run Utility (Start > Run) if you have Windows XP. Then type "cd c:\", without quotations. Then type "boot.ini" (no quotes) and you'll get this popup
Quote:
[boot loader] timeout=0 default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems] multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
If you don't then you need to follow one of the forum links in general discussion that tells you how to fix that problem.
Why'd you take the computer apart exactly? If it was shutting off before you took it apart then yes it's probably a heat issue. I don't think anyone has reported shut offs just from running Trinity yet. The fact that you were able to make it function again at all indicates your boot.ini file was intact.

I thought it was a pretty straightforward answer.
It'd help if you said what exactly it is you don't grasp.

heh, he said he doesn't want to learn anything about how his PC works ... it is difficult to grasp new knowledge when you're specifically trying to refuse learning it

lol...
Perhaps you'll buy another car if your check engine light happens to come on? Makes about as much sense as your original post.
With that kind of attitude, I'm surprised you actually took the time to even learn how to play a game like EVE. Or checkers for that matter.

Well, I cant see a way of putting what the other poster said more clearly. If he doesnt want to understand the problem, then he will have trouble sorting it out. My, I Now Might As Well Train Another Race |
