Well I managed to get my comp running again by using system recovery (I didnt realise at the time it had anything to do with Trinity upgrade) but for some reason all my windows updates have disapeared yet my data and installed programs like EVE are still there? Also when I run EVE now I get an error message:
"CCP Exefile has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."
Also everyship and station now just shows as white?
Do I need to reinstall EVE or can I use system restore and get back all of my previous settings along with all the windows updates I had before? Or will that just delete my Boot.ini file aswel?
(BTW I'm abit of a computer noob as you can probably tell )

Edited by: Sirene Archai on 07/12/2007 06:47:47 the reason everything is still there is probably because u did a repair or something similar. a full recovery will bring a system back to factory settings. repairs and restores just alter system settings in essence.
but at the same time, the Registry values are reset, so programs that rely on the registry sometimes produce errors.

A system restore does indeed fix things. However, in doing so it corrupts some of the files in EVE. You'll have to download it again.
After trying unsuccessfully to A) Find my XP disk and B) using Microsoft's not so helpful help section, I took this route as well. Thankfully, I had a restore point from the day before, so virtually nothing was lost in the process.
Click download, go to bed, get up a few minutes early and install Eve. Check buy orders, go to work. This coulda been a LOT worse for me. Adapt more, whine less. |
