I'm loving the new killmail system and as a Drake pilot, I'm especially loving that little stat that tells me how much damage I absorb before going down. But what I'm wondering is, can't this stat be manipulated quite easily?
It all comes down to whether your tank relies more on resists or repair. For example,a passive shield tanker relies heavily on resists to reduce incoming dps. An active shield tanker relies on shield boosters and boost amps. So let's say we have an equally strong active tank and passive tank, that take equal damage to bring down; won't the active tank score a higher "damage taken" score?
And with that in mind, I'm not sure I want to complete Battlecruisers V, because it increases my Drake's resists. I would rather finish shield op V, so I can instead get the raw recharge rate and score higher "damage taken" scores A suggestion might be to have the stat count the RAW damage taken? Not the damage after resists?

The other people are still frantically trying to get their PC's to boot or are somehow trying to grasp/control/exploit the effect of the POS problems.
I don't think that the new killmail system is high on their priority list atm.

i took 200k damage in an abaddon on the test server
that and we blew up a drake ( on the real server ) i warped in and web/scram/pew pew, and my name didnt even show up on the kill mail. the drake took 23k damage from the other 4 people on the km
the damage taken and damage delt added up to the same amount, but somehow i feel that an abaddon with drones will change that number, yes/no?

So instead of epeen for getting the kill..
Now you want to express your epeen by taking the most damage before dying...?
So since you can't compete in the Olympics that is a kill maill..
You want to raise your epeen by trying to convert being a looser and dying into a victory in the Special Olympics.... interesting the things some ppl will do to stroke their epeen

I see no shame in it. C'mon, give me at least some points for not desiring to have a big bad pwning ship like everybody else wants. That's an easy aspiration - anyone can wish for that.
As long as I'm in empire, flying without my corp, I will not initiate fights and I'm not interested in killmails. I only care about that when I'm in 0.0, defending and raiding and such.
So in the meantime, my Empire Drakes have the sole purpose of being beaten to pulps. So tell me, Illyria, what's with the childish animosity?

I think the best numbers to show for damage taken would be after size reductions (missiles), but before resists, because it rewards high resistance tanks. Damage done should still be given in actual damage (post resists), because it rewards choosing the corect damage type.
The numbers wouldn't add up, no idea if it would be possible to show both numbers.

Yeah, besides the resists issue, I can see where accuracy would become difficult when considering the ship sig radius and missile explosion radius Vs Turret Sig resolution.
Oh well, it's no big deal. I'll have to judge the strength of my tanks based on number/type of ships it takes to kill me. Starting January 3rd, I'll finally have Battlecruisers V and all shield skills at V.

Go in a 1-vs-1 against an Amarr laserboat that deals slightly less DPS as you can perma-tank.
Then, some long time afterwards, deactivate hardners and die.
There you go, millions upon millions of damage taken before you died.

Exactly! It can be manipulated. But I'm not too bothered by it.
(Although that particular issue could be fixed if the stat also included time. Ie: "Damage taken 17,512 over 234 seconds" or something like that)

i like drakes ..
but as for who wins if both ships die and the points are similar (within reason)..it will allways boil down to who lost the most isk..
the way i see it is its got to be kill points first then isk and if its still a draw its who got podded with implants...how much dammage absorbed prior to pop is just an interesting stat..and does not reflect who won ..
also tecnically if you both go pop then its even ..but if its fleet ops ...its who runs away loses...and whos left to loot the losers cans that wins hehe
seem fair?

Yeah, yeah of course. There's one thing I need to make clear. People are assuming that I think having a high "damage taken" stat constitutes a win. I don't think that. (You hear this, Illyria?) I'm simply interested in building the strongest tank I can, and part of doing this is seeing what amount of firepower can break my tank.

You can get better tank due to resists of 5%. But this also helps drake damage so I would go for it before shield op V

Oh, I was totally kidding about not Training BC V. I'm finishing that skill up as we speak. But it doesn't matter because I'm gonna train both up before I fight again at all.
