What are the big name player corporations in the various militias? Most of the searchable info seems fairly dated. |

Quantum Cats sydicate Capsule Corp Spiritus Draconis
There are way more tho.

Best way of checking is the caldari/gallente/amarr/minmatar killboards. You can google those.
Then go to Stats -> Corp stats -> Top killers.
For example here is Amarr militia corp stats:

If you are in for the stats then yes but there are tons of small corps that are very vital, all busy with their own goals. At least that's how it is on our side. |

As others have noted, you can go via the KB stats, which are somewhat deceptive. One thing you can glean from the KB stats is general activity.
On the CalMil side, at the moment the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are the largest in terms of membership and activity, probably followed by Hell's Revenge, and a number of smaller but active and experienced corps.
QCats and Spiritus Draconis are the old mainstays still in GalMil, there are some new up and coming corps we have been seeing a lot of lately as well.
Just pick a corp and get in fleets, you will figure out very quickly what the most active corps are and in what TZ.
The issue we have been having for about a year now is that the bulk of the "good fight" pilots and corps in GalMil come online just as our guys are going to sleep...about a 4hr TZ difference I think...gets a bit frustrating :P
We have a 30 man fleet that has nothing to engage then they have a 30 man fleet that has nothing to engage...then we engage anyway or they engage anyway and it ends up being a sweet reaping of insurance.
I still have a firm offer up to the top 5 Gal Mil corps...there is still time for all of us to quit and join Minmatar :) if only we can fix our standings! |

Thank you for the information on some good corporations.
Another thing, could someone do a bit more of a write up on what makes being in the militia great? Yes its PvP, and free enemies. What about the plexing side of things? Other then plexing and small to large gangs with occasional cap hotdrops... what else happens? I remember STRIX use to take an RP bend to the gallente military.
Basically, what are possible focuses that the militia or militia corps offer? What are some popular militia play styles? |

Plexing is great fun because of ship restrictions. So if you got like a little frigate and destroyer gang with your buddies, a bunch of war targets come around in their big bad fleet and they can't get in your plex. So they'd have to ship down to come fight you. The only problem is faction frigates and cruisers (particularly the Dramiel).
We got tons of small scale to large scale warfare (as far as low sec goes.) Play style depends largely on the fleet, fleet commander and what we are up against. We try to keep things fresh though, even if for the lulz. Right now I'm EFTing a battle Viator for a funny killmail. |

I think evrybody has a different answer to that. for me personally it is because of the care free pvp and the social aspect. its fun, not to large scale, and mostly none of the drama u have in nullsec. i have been in numerous fw corps now, and tbh it doesnt matter wich one ur in. you know the guys, u have nice chats with them on ts etc... even tho caldari and gallente militias smacktalk each other into oblivion, i concider most of them nice guys :)

Yeah some of the Caldari are nice folks, wouldn't mind having a beer with them. There's some that get on my nerves though. |
