Wondering if some input can be made with regards to using Blasters vs. Rails on a Mega. Thanks in advance.

Yes, ample threads around on the new and improved blasterthron. One would think we'd sell more of em...
Anyway, most of these threads are about the blaster set-ups only, not about the use of the good old 425mm railgun.
So i can imagine the use of yet another thread to compare the two, tho the thread should not get too long since the situation is reasonably clear.
It all depends on the situation and your preference.
Rails= groupfights, NPC's (heavy ones at least), long range combat and defensively oriented players, does good damage.
blasters= in your face 1v1, incredibly suicidal fleet combat, total attack mode pilots and insane damage.
This should explain teh basic differences.
Now about close range v long range. Rails actually do quite well at short range too (if down to 5km, using AM ammo and equipping two nice tracking mods), but admittedly nowhere near to blaster damage.
My heart wants to equip blasters, my brain wants to snipe with rails.

true as they come drunken.
Already tried it :)
2x sensor booster, 2x decent tracking/range mod gives about 160km optimal range on iron ammo. Could be more but have only tried iridium yet. _______________________________________________

Nah, drunkenmaster probably uses a mate with tracking/targetting sensor linking modules in combination with his own modules to give a 100km range AM railgun setup

I've not tried it for real. I never really did it much before. I just know that it's possible. With a buff-buddy, it would be long range 'fish in a barrel'. .

I'd help you but, after Ganja's tale of destroying a wannabe SPVD at a camp point, I'm not sure I could trust you
