I'm having a very difficult time deciding. I have an option to purchase a high-end graphics card and I can't make up my mind.
I currently run a 7950 GX2. I can purchase another 7950 GX2 and run them in SLI, or I can purchase 1 8800 Ultra?
I know Eve isn't coded to make sure of SLI yet, but I don't want to make my decision based off Eve alone. I play Vanguard, and several other non-MMOs that do support SLI.
What is everyones vote on this?

do any of the games you play use DX10? are you running vista? if the answer to either of these questions is no then go for the 7950 GX2 as this will provide better performance than the 8800 for you
but the 8800 + Vista + DX10 would be an improvement over the 7950's in the DX10 games only _______________________________

I do not currently use Vista, nor do I intend to until they release service pack two. Maybe not then if things don't improve for a handful of my system components.
As for DX10 the games I've run benchmarks on with Vista and WinXP have shown that DX10 while it supports some pretty cool stuff (environment destruction is one of my favorite), does not improve performance of the game over WinXP and DX9. As a matter of fact you loose FPS on many games with VISTA and DX10.
Thats just one persons findings of course and others may disagree. I just can't make up my mind. Thanks for the feedback Wacoede

88GT has been whopp'n up on the Ultra? I haven't found any results showing that (not that your wrong). I have seen several situations where the 8800GT beat out the 8800GTX though.
While the GT gives the Ultra a run it doesn't beat it out.

1 st option: you don't have enaugh power for sli you have to buy a new powergrid :P either buy 7950 and buy powergrid or sell 7950 and buy 8800 either way it'll cost you surely the same, or even youll be better off with 8800
If you have enaugh power base your decisin on DX10, whether you'll use it in future or not. If you play other games , buy 8800.

Get an 8800GTX, or one of the new G92-based 8800GTSs. Adding another 7950GX2 won't give you much in the way of extra speed because NVidia's quad-SLI drivers are very poor quality and have huge performance and compatibility issues. |
