Not sure if hidden belts were well implemented, but the fact is - they were one of the very few things to look for by explorers. Many people like to be explorers. Some people play games just for that purpose. EVE has great potential for such players, but instead of making exploration more interesting, CCP just killed it.
Maybe the hidden belts had too much good ore in them? If that was so, then the proper solution would be to reduce ore count.

Edited by: Conrad on 10/03/2004 18:40:13 hidden belts were a grid bug that formed. They have been trying to get rid of grid bugs and apparently got rid of hidden belts. I'm glad they did though. If you want to mine, hire someone to protect you, simple. Mining solo in 0.0 should never happen. In fact there were rumors of people afk mining arkanor and other high end ores in a hauler ship. This was one reason they made npcs attack in hidden belts as well. If your going to leave over this then see ya.

Well guess don't let the door hit you on the way out Salena. All hidden belts have the possibilites for rats in them. If you where solo mining in a 0.0 belt thats considered "exploiting". That was stated some time back.
The point of 0.0 space is to work in groups, aka thats why alliances where formed. The point of mining in 0.0 even out the risk/profit margins for a group of players mining the belts.
If you have problems setting times up to mine, get a schedule togeather from a group of people in the area. Set times when the most people can cover the spots, divide the assignments and thats it. Its simple.
Oh btw u can solo mine in 0.0 space still, just takes time and effort to do so. Takes 3-4 times longer then doing it in a group but it can be done. Fear The Bunny

Hmm well saying back before they changed spawns (still had BS rats and yes it was done solo) I could rake in around 1200 ark/bis per hour. I had of course a plan to do this and worked out for a nice profit. Managed around 3-4k ark per day and I had to do all the hauling also.
A nice 12 jump trip that took time. Thats what I'd do for a couple days of the week, go hunt/fight the rest of the week and repeat til I had the funds I wanted to support myself then stopped all mining.
Like what I said it could be done its just of course not the most profitable way of doing so. You are in 0.0 space, use your brain to accomplish tasks that you think are impossible.
Oh yea hidden belts 60,000km from anything have been reported to have rat spawns in them also. Just a friendly tip from the hater of hidden belt miners. Fear The Bunny

why not have 1-3 mil worth of hidden ore in random locations? It would take explorer type people a lot of time to find those and then they would be happy to claim the reward. They wouldn't make money faster than other smart people.
just make sure that locations are truely random and that the rewards are justified by the time it takes to find those

Good god.
Learn to ninja-mine. It's really not that hard, you're just not going to be able to afk-mine bistot/arkanor in a bestower any more, you'll need to pay attention. ------------- My salsa makes all the pretty girls want to dance and take off their underpants. I <3 ( . Y . ) |

Ninja mining doesn't work anymore either it seems. NPCs seem to jump into a belt with a miner about three minutes after they start mining.

Other peeps mentioned ming ark not the original poster, it equally applies to other securities as well.
However, I don't think you should be able to mine in an indy thats just wrong. CCP should really have implemented mining only hardpoints.

Pirates in hidden belts are there to stay, nothing to discuss here. I am locking it because the quit part of the title means to me that this topic does not belong here. -- Richard CCP Programmer. Anything said above is not the official line, but my own take or opinion. |
