Edited by: Matthew Cooper on 07/12/2007 18:59:24 Has anyone else experienced a problem where the flash banner on the front of the EVE Online page crashes Mozilla Firefox?
I'm currently using Firefox version 2.0.0.11 and Adobe Flash Player 9.0.115.0.
This problem only occurs for me on the front page of the EVE Online website, with the Trinity advertisement banner on it.
In Internet Explorer 7, with the same version of the Flash player, I don't have this problem.
Edit: Yes, I have bug reported this.

Weird...I'm fine here, same version of Firefox. I don't know what version of Flash I have.
Once a while back my firefox was crashing a lot, but restarting seemed to fix the issue. This was on a Mac though, so I have no idea if that'll help. ---------------- Tarminic - 29 Million SP in pink Forum Warfare |

It makes my firefox to stop working for around 15-20 seconds. Weird too but happened similar things with other web pages.

This is happening to me on Windows XP Professional and Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, both with the most current OS updates and I might also add that it's the newest versions of both Firefox and the Flash player, which might explain why I'm encountering it and nobody else seems to.

I have the same problem. Sometimes it crashes completely and sometimes it just freezes for 10 seconds or so.
FF 2.0.0.11 and latest version of Adobe Flash Player.

Funny u to mention that, my FF does shows this weird behavior, but it doesn't crash it justs takes 100% CPU for 15-30 seconds and then settles. I have noticed this behavior in other sites but haven't associated the matter to Flash until now. It happens often with new GMail interface and it doesn't uses flash (but should have a lot of javascript processing). I just though that it could be related to some of the extensions I have, but researching on the matter came to a dead end. Would u care to share your extension list?
I'll look further on this and test it with other big-look-at-me-flash banner sites

No extensions, just the Flash plugin. This only happens to me with that specific banner, other flash-heavy websites, even websites that are entirely flash based seem fine.

Yep, that new flash add for Trinity has something going on. Its lagging my browser as well for about 5-10 seconds.
At first I thought it was Winamp hogging up somehow, but it was just Firefox.
Until they fix/remove it, I'm avoiding the front page. I can stand stuttering/lag in the game, but not when surfing. -

No problems for me... I've got NoScript disabled, so the ad loads OK, and no lagginess or anything.
On a rather beefy machine (my work computer) with Linux as the OS, though (OpenSUSE 10.3 on this box).

Edited by: Meiyang Lee on 07/12/2007 20:06:46 Running the same version of Firefox and Adobe Flash Player under windows XP, and it doesn't even twitch when i go to the main EVE page, the add loads perfectly. Running NoScript aswell, but with EVE-online allowed, just google analytics blocked.
So perhaps something on your system is interfering with the way flash and Firefox cooperate?

I'm not having any problems with eve-online.com but FF does crash on me with other flash ads. It seems to be random. I think there might be a problem with firefox/flash player.

Yep, happens to me every time. If I restart moz, it just keeps on crashing it. Must be flash related I think.

Try using a diff browser to IE if you must and also to Firefox.

Yeah, same here. The banner flash movie often gets stuck a few frames in and FF hangs on my XP machine, but not on my Vista64 machine.

My FF also crashes because of the banner on top of the EVE homepage. It's pretty annoying but I think it might be due to a new version of Flash and how it works in FF since I didn't have this problem before formatting my comp and redownloading everything. Also, this does not happen to me on any of the other sites I browse.
A friend of mine also have this problem but I didn't understand it since I at that time had not formatted.

The NoScript extension for Firefox tells me that this site is attempting to run scripts from teljari.is whatever that is. CCP needs to clean up their page and not have any off-site scripts running.

i'll just clarify this a bit. Its NOT firefox on its own, its firefox combined with the newest version of the flashplayer. I use Firefox myself, but with flash 9.0.47.0 and have no issues what-so-ever. This was actually brought up before in a number of threads. Something in that flashplayer is clashing badly with that add and some other adds around the net apparently.

No mention of why offsite scripts from teljari.is are running in the myeve.eve-online.com pages? I block them with no apparent loss of function.

I just recently got my new laptop and have the same problem. At first I thought it was my hacked os or all the software mods I'm running and that I would just have to deal with it or avoid the front page completely... Now I'm actually kind of glad to see I'm not the only one with this bug and that at least it's being worked on.
