Just now, 23 minutes to attempt to dock at a station. Hmmm. How is that a quality gaming experience?
Luckily, I have avoided the boot.ini problem, but it appears that a number of people did not.
This makes me wonder - at what point is the quality of service beneath the level one would be comfortable paying for?

I have had nothing but happiness from this patch, the server was up early, vista dodged the whole boot.ini bullet, lag is down, fps is up, graphics are beautiful, all in all I am very pleased. So yes I think we should be paying for this.

Subjective. Completely up to the players to decide on that.
I for one am miffed re: boot.ini. Who wouldnt be, right? (if you werent even at least negatively affected [1 second of inconvenience/discomfort at the news to a whole month's pay to fix your PC] by the boot.ini, you're not an EVE player)
As long as CCP man up and admit/apologize for the screwup after this fiasco's over, I'm still good with em.
If they dont (which btw is just wrong if they didnt), well, I can find my way out... -

I'm thinking 22.5 minutes of that time was an issue on your end.
As to paying for services... I think there should be a complaint fee. --

Every decision is one that has to be made by oneself - does this mean there should be no threads at all?
Er, that sounds a bit extreme.
And dull.

Edited by: Ice Moon on 07/12/2007 20:10:02 Whether it's worth my money is of course up to me - my question is, on the same subject, what's the median opinion of the playing community? Of course I can't ascertion this by posting, but I'm interested in people's views from an anecdotal perspective: when is the quality of an online gaming service unacceptable, and how is Eve faring on that spectrum?
This question is prompted by some recent experiences, and this forum seemed like the appropriate place to pose it.
Oh - and re "Get out of Jita" - why should the community accept that some game functions be inaccessible for metagame / technical architecture reasons?

for the love of...
Look, if you cant decide for yourself if you should continue to pay to play this game, why even bother asking?
You're obviously looking for a reason to either leave, or stay. Only you can find that out for yourself. Posting about it to "gauge the community's reactions" isnt going to do you any good, because not everyone who plays EVE forum-*****s like we do. -

People are still paying for EVE and thus the service provided must be acceptable.

Oh! Well hell, you should have just said that in the first place!
Overall, I'm about 85% satisfied with my game experience. Once it drops below 50%, I'd consider retiring temporarily.
Quote: Oh - and re "Get out of Jita" - why should the community accept that some game functions be inaccessible for metagame / technical architecture reasons?
For the same reason we accept that communications across the internet aren't instant - it's not any fault of programming or design, it's simply a technical limitation that CCP cannot get around at the moment (they're working around this by working with IBM to build a massive supercomputer). Getting angry about Jita is about as useful as getting angry about a storm or a Tornado. ---------------- Tarminic - 29 Million SP in pink Forum Warfare |

People in Romania had to pay for their own houses to be demolished against their will - I doubt they felt that the demolition service was acceptable. Ok, I shouldn't use the word "doubt", as they told me so themselves. I don't think the argument "People are paying for it so it must be ok" is a particularly efficacious one.
And re this "Trinity" thing - I didn't mention Trinity?

For me, the value of EVE far exceeds the subscription fee, but I enjoy the game so...
Anyway, just imagine how much time and effort is put into this game on the server end. 14 bucks per month seems alright with me. If its the money your worried about, get a better job or something.
Hell, I can go to the bar and spend 100 bucks in about 3 hours and wake up with a headache. EVE can give me a headache, but only if I play for 24 hours straight and even then it only costs me 50 or so cents.

If you think it's not worth paying for, don't.
Myself, I will continue paying for it until they shut down the servers.

I guess nobody appreciates station docking foreplay. Nope you just want to get in as quick as possible and then never call again or send a nice card on its birthday.
Why are you still reading? Its over. Continue to the next post.

well... lag is down... lag is down... i think thats subject to where u are tbh.
Dodixie was again as bad (if not worse) as ever.
OH and before u flame me, yes, i wil be moving out of that dump as soon as a logical opportunity arrises (prolly somewhere after the holidays i think) cuz last nite was the straw that broke the camels back for me.
Offcourse having said this, i do think it's time that people (and ccp) realize that this is no longer just a pvp game, there seem to be lots and lots of people content to just run mish, so impo i do think it is time that ccp added some more hi quality L4 agents to hi sec to take the load of the current agent runner hubs, u can disagree offcourse and thats ur right but it doesn't change the fact that the number of people doing missions is increasing rapidly and it creates lag, not just for the missionrunners but for everybody. CCP, let us pay the online shop with Direct Debit!!! Magners is now recruiting, evemail me or Dagazbo ingame.

For all its problems, I still find Eve Online fun. I'll leave when it isn't, but right now, I'm still enjoying this game. And I probably will for years to come. Enough to pay for it in fact (this is probably the only game I've ever paid to play). ---
