Edited by: Illyria Ambri on 07/12/2007 20:38:25 So after this update.. I know a few ppl have noticed it and its really starting to annoy me greatly..
The icons that symbolize ships in space... you know thw little white box or the white/red plusses for NPC's... now when you zoom out.. the ship seperates from the icon.
LOL I just passed a billboard and the screen was floating about 100 feet (game equivilant) above the rest of the board.
This makes targeting and combat awareness issues as you try to target a ship and its not where you see it to be. The farther out you zoom.. the more the ship distances from its icon in space.. making targeting difficult.
Not to mention when you warp.. you warp at an upward angle as the tunnel is pointed at the stargates circle icon when your ship is pointed at the actuial gatwe which turns out to be much farther north of where the icon was.
Make my happy dreams come true and tell us this never occurred at all during your testing.. rather then knowing about it and ignoreing it... ------------ This is not War... This is pest control - Dalek Sek

file a bug report, I did and was informed that it is a known issue. If you uncheck the widescreen option in your graphics setting I think it will go away.

Why would anyone use the widescreen option? :D It just adds two huge black bars on the top and the bottom of the screen..

Widescreen makes things easier to see..
makes blinking module icons much easier to see then against the space background.
besides.. the difference between widescreen and full screen in a game you can zoom in is insignificant. ------------ This is not War... This is pest control - Dalek Sek

Some people have widescreen monitors. So we get to see a bit more at the sides.

Ummm... No. Widescreen lets you see less at the top and bottom of the screen. It is for improving performance on lesser computers, by making the game have less screen area to draw.
It doesn't affect the sides of the screen at all, nor does it widen the viewing angle. It merely cuts off parts of the screen to make less work for the computer. And it makes it easier to see modules and other UI elements placed in the black areas.

I should have been clearer. It of course depends on resolution. However I also use the thing for movies, and I only watch widescreen movies. They do not have bits of the movie cut off (on the side).

not sure if I am following you
I have a widescreen monitor, it naturally wants widescreen input. Looks better on it. So I use resolutions that fit a widescreen. The key is the aspect ratio.
It has nothing to do with speed, it does not cut off anything at all. Try it. You will notice that a widescreen output has the black bars but no info is missing. It looks really odd on a 'normal' monitor but good on a widescreen monitor.

Widescreen monitor is allready widescreen and those resolutions are available, so you don't have to check the box in settings.
Reg monitors - it's nice to have the widescreen enabled as you do get to see more left to right. and yea...the controls are definitely easier to see.

This is a slightly annoying bug yes. I've found that if I alt tab to desktop and back it corrects itself. But for a split second it almost looks like its changing the resolution slightly so that things line up.
However the result of another bug, alt tabbing out to desktop and then back removes engine effects from the screen. Oh well. I'm sure it will be fixed. |

You can also play windowed, open the graphics menu, and in the advanced menu change the interval from whatever it is to something else. Resets it until you dock or change systems.

Edited by: Don West on 08/12/2007 00:52:12 If you would like to keep your widescreen resolution and fix the problem, turn shadows off.
Haven't tried the alt+tab to fix it. If that works I'll be turning my shadows back on tonight. Thanks for that tip.
