Edited by: acs on 08/12/2007 12:14:04 Hi all
I want to start an industrial alt (manufacturing), and thus also thinking of making him a miner - just to be able of getting hold of most of the materials myself.
I guess my 1st question is this: is the above clever? I mean, I'd say it makes sense making him a miner too. Also skill-wise.
My 2nd question is: what bloodine, ancestry, specialization etc. should I choose to get the ideal starting attributes for such a character? I will of course be training all learning skills (perhaps except +charisma) from the beginning. Maybe with +3 implants, too.
I realize I will be needing int, mem, willpower, and perc the most since I'll be skilling in industry, science and spaceship command skill sets.
Check this post out: weighted list of starting attributes -since that will give me the best over-all skilling abilities, I think I'll go with that.
Any thoughts are welcome!

Give me a list of skills (with ranks) you want to train and I will provide you with answer. though it is probably going to be achura stargazer anyway.

The thing is I don't know exactly what skills a miner/industrialist must train. I just thought there were some people out there with some insight into that, and with that taken into account, could provide me with a good answer :-)

Edited by: acs on 08/12/2007 12:33:27 What about the distribution of +'s to attributes when creating the character? Should I go after an even distribution of points in the end? (with all bonus points received after choosing ancestry etc.)
Industry is mostly about mem/int, science int/mem, and spaceship command perc/willpower. So, if I go for most in int/mem, middle in perc/will, and don't touch char.. then I'd be off to a good start, no?

Edited by: Bladen Kerst on 08/12/2007 12:40:36 The thing is is that being an industrial charcater there is no way around doing a fair ammount of training in spaceship command in order to be able to fly all those industrial ships, mining barges, maybe even freighters. That is why achura inventors or stargazers with extra points into intellegence AND perception is a good way to go. However if you want to accelerate faster you could probably also stress memory before everything else. This way your alt would gain time training industrial skills, but on the long run (speaking about several years here) it wouldn't be as fast as chars with high and balanced int and perception.

So you're saying, that a build like this would be okay: char: 3 int: 12 mem: 12 perc: 10 willp: 8

I see you have chosen Achura-Monks combo, in my opinion stargazers would be better, but usually you can't go wrong with Achura anyway. especially when choosing industrial career

It actually was a stargazer :o I ended up with that attribute set, and went with it! her name is 'Miss Hannah', and you'll hopefully be seeing her alot on the industrial market ;-)
Anyway, thanks for your help - nice with some thoughts on this matter :)
