Edited by: Chuck Dexter on 08/12/2007 15:33:49 Hi,
Before Trinity-Patch i used the ability to choose "Multisampling" Option from the advanced graphics settings Ingame. Everything works fine. Now after the Patch i dont have any additional Anti-Aliasing Options. My problem is, that for example the 3rd Party Tool "nHancer" Settings did not change the Graphic Ingame of Eve-Online. I can select any wanted Graphic Option but if i start Eve-Online with that activated options, nothing changes ingame. Also the Nvidia Control Panel does not change anything ingame. I dont know what to do any more. The Graphic work fine ingame and i have a very good frame-rate BUT there is NO Antialiasing Effekt and that drives me mad.

Edited by: Eghhed on 17/12/2007 12:31:12 I have a similar issue - if I force AA using the Nvidia control panel and nHancer, it works for the first time I load eve. If I then warp, or jump, or enter a station, the AA effect disappears!
My workaround is to Alt-Tab to desktop, then Alt-Tab back into Eve - incredibly the AA effect is back on! Does this work for anyone else? This is very annoying because I can't stand the jagged edges on my ship! I'm constantly Alt-Tabbing back and forth to keep my AA on!
Oh and I use a 6600GT with latest drivers.

Edited by: Syraine on 17/12/2007 20:50:21 I got it to work fine with nHancer. I use AA+HDR and my AA stays on all the time. The only problem I have seen is a GFX glitch that happens on the edges of my ship when cloaked that appear as big white squares. Turning down bloom makes them smaller. I can barely notice them with my current settings but it would be nice to be able to turn bloom back up.

I'm having this problem as well, and alt-tabbing doesn't seem to fix anything for me. Same problem in both window and fullscreen modes (though I usually play windowed to make alt-tabbing to other things easier). nVIDIA 7900GT card, AMD X2

I noticed the AA problem too. I have AA again, but I cant use HDR or bloom at the same time as AA. Kinda sucks, cause the game looks terrible without AA, and only looks decent without HDR/Bloom...
My best guess is force AA with nvidia control panel, then turn off HDR in the graphics options in eve if you want AA. at least, thats what worked for me.
(if anything else, at least there are shadows and new models, lol)

Yeah, I cannot to get AA to work at all. Setting driver controls, using nHancer, turning off HDR...nothing works. Figures, the game that is most obviously affected by aliasing and no client implementation of it.

I'm gonna copy and past the post I made in corp chat that resolves (kinda) these issues. Its not great, but it works, and no I couldnt get AA to run in window mode and not crash :)
Ok so the new client came out. I patched entered game and immediately crashed. After playing around with video settings in nHancer and reading eve-o with other people crashing I figured out the following:
1) Nvidia higher end cards that are capable of doing AA and HDR in the old 1.00 client are crashing. Not sure about other cards. 2) Turn off AA all together and crashing goes away.... but you have no AA. 3) Go to NHacer select Oblivion (AA+HDR) compatability mode and leave HDR off in game and you sometimes crash When in fullscreen, sometimes you run fine and get NO AA. (even if you have AA enabled) 4) #3 but enable HDR in client and you don't crash and have full HDR and AA in game if you are full screen. But its well, very GPU intensive. 5) In window mode no matter WHAT you do you cant enable AA and HDR, and enabling just AA will cause a crash 100% of the time, and HDR will never work in window mode, only fullscreen.
That might be a bit confusing. So acceptable play modes:
1) Windowed: turn off AA and turn of HDR in game. 2) Full screen: Turn AA and HDR off, or go into nHancer enable HDR, Oblivion AA+HDR compatability mode, and stay full screen and drool over the picture, but beware the fps :)

And wierdly AA just started working with Oblivion AA compatability mode on in windowed mode as long as HDR is off and not crashing. I give up, so i guess:
3) Oblivion AA in nHancer with AA on and HDR off.

nHancer is an app that allows you to force graphics settings if you have an Nvidia card. Google it if you want to download it. Oblivion is a game.
I'll try this later when I get home though. Its really starting to **** me off that we haven't had one CCP reply to this post - the game looks awful without AA, even in Trinity IMO.
CCP please will you acknowledge this problem. Some of us have paid hundreds of pounds for their graphics cards and yet we can't have a simple feature like AA!?

I have ATI cards, and can force AA using CCC, but still, I just want to add my +1 to include AA as an in game option, simply because this game needs it. ------------ No pic for me! :( |

Bump.
Should I be making a petition to have CCP look at this problem? Eve looks crap with no AA on my TFT monitor, even with the new engine. Surely in this day and age there should be an AA option within the graphics setings of the game!

Hi folks!
I've got the same problems and I've got a 8800 GTS, 640 MB RAM.
I tried a lot, really a lot. But I found no solution that works all the time. But I can advice you to do the following:
Update the driver and your nHancer version. both of mine are now up to date.
Uninstall nHancer, uninstall driver, install new driver, install new nHancer version.
Then try diffrent settings. I tried a lot and all of a sudden it worked! Now I'm using 16x Coverage Sample and "Splinter Cell 4" as AA-mode. But I think, HDR never worked on my computer. But I'm using only AA.
This lead me to a new trouble: Very low FPS even on a 4 months old computer:

Maybe this helps you as well, but not for sure.

Forced AA works for me. But only when I'm not using the prem graphics. With prem graphics on it's all jagged again.

I can use AA only with classic graphics, but the flickering is TERRIBLE. Every stargate, station etc are so weird. Textures are wild..
7950GT 512 mb, core 2 duo running 2.5 GHz, 2 G ram running 666MHz.
Performance is good, got usually three accounts on, had to change to fullscreen mode since I just couldn't get AA working in window mode anymore
With Premium (wich I would want to use..) I just can't get AA working in anyway. I have tried everyt tips from these forums. Latest drivers, older drivers, nHancer, compality modes... Nothing works.
I am fine with classic graphics with AA on, but that flickering makes me mad

@both: Hm...and why do I have to activate "enhance ingame settings"? I thought I should let it deactivated so I force it :o)

Edited by: MenanceWhite on 09/01/2008 01:25:35 It seems so that Anti-Aliasing when forced thru the drivers will not work in combination with HDR at all. I had the same problem with Crysis which also ran with HDR.
What solution do we have? -turn off HDR alltogether if you want AA.
Here's some screenshots for comparison: Anti-Aliasing off Anti-Aliasing on Using 16xS combined AA here. HRD turned off on both nhancer and the EVE in-game options.
I've seen screenshots with supposedly both HDR and AA enabled, but never figured out how to do so. Those ships were'nt in space or regular station environments so the the guy might have rendered them in some other way.
Also, nhancer compability mode should no affect AA at all.

Edited by: Taearaa on 09/01/2008 03:15:56 @mybrocker: Well, I don't know, too. AA works on my computer...I think there are other computers where AA is running better (means the edges are a bit better/clearer), my main problem is that I have most of the time less than 30 FPS and while fighting 10 FPS and in stations 15 FPS and less. Like I said: For detailed information about my issue, please watch my link above.
I am using 169.21 for a 8800 GTS and updated video card driver the saturday before last. Seems that there is already a new one, hm?
Do I have, like I wrote, to deinstall nHancer, uninstall driver, install new driver and install new nHancer? Or is it also possible to uninstall and install the driver without removing nHancer?
@MenaceWhite: Ahh...so I might try not forcing AA, just enhancing game settings if I want to have also HDR...maybe this helps...maybe not - because I never was able to activate HDR successfully.

Only thing that has to be done is to chance the Oblivion stuff to: 0xf0000045 instead of the 0000045 Oblivion.
This will make AA work with or without HDR setting on ingame aswell.
