It would have to be subtle on the whole "I'M A VIDEO GAME MOVIE!!" part.
Nobody'd go see it if it were "the EVE online Movie" (except us players, and face it: there's not that many of us.)
It would just have to be a really good SciFi movie that managed to get a good director and big enough budget to not suck, and not go direct to DVD. Which isn't impossible, because EVE is such a rich and badass universe. |

As with all things, it depends. It'd have to be a damn good film. Ultimately though, as long as it was along the lines of the short stories that CCP produce, and has nothing to do with Capsuleers (because that's us, and you can't include one side without upsetting the other side in some way). Would never likely happen though

With real-life actors ? HELL NO.
Animated (cartoonish) ? HELL NO.
Machinima, or "Pixar-like" stuff ? Maybe.
Motion picture ? HELL NO.
Some series ? Maybe.
But what should the subject be exactly ?
All in all, not an idea worth entertaining for the time being.

It has the potential to become one of the best Sci-fi movies if done properly.
The background story and art is there.
The problem lies with someone financing people that will make "that" movie.
I'm convinced CCP will not sellout to people that well deliver a movie not worthy of the name EVE.

and eve movie would be great but as every1 said it must be done properly with a good agent a good script and good actors else it will make eve look like a joke
and it can include capsuleers dont forget there are pirates in the short stories who arent players and are still capsuleers

Read some of the short stories around EVE, and note that there is a book coming out about EVE that will be sold in book stores to non-gamers everywhere. There is a huge amount of potential in the EVE universe for this kind of thing, just not easily in the realm of the pod pilots.

It would have to be something of epic proportions with an amazing storyline, state-of-the-art special effects, and realistic-looking space battles for me to want it, to be honest. A badly produced EVE movie would make me sad.

just as an idea: the Ruthless would make an excellent script, tbh... just expand it a bit or perhaps launch a miniseries (like star wars clone wars, perhaps: animated miniepisodes to start it off)
anyway, the idea is very rich and perhaps some day we'll see this come to life :D

One can only hope for this and of course that Uwe Boll gets a restraining order from any EVE movie/series production.

hell all they would need is either live actors or voice actors. i think they could go either as far as it being a live action flick or anime. and they could just about use gameplay footage for the action  the game looks better then some scifi flicks i've seen over the years, hehe

Well, there is the Evolution CGI movie that is in development (by people who work in the industry who are very busy and do this in their spare time so it's taking ages don't complain about etc) but other than that I don't know much about any EVE movies, other than those recorded with FRAPS and found in the Video forum section.

We got too many bad movies allready as a spinnoffs from games. Like for example Dungeons & Dragons and Doom, which where pathetic.
We got some good ones too though. Resident Evil and Lara Croft, but too many stinks.
