Is level 5 the maximum level of some basic skills, or is there a way to train past this point?
Also, is it recommended to focus training on learning first to speed up training time in other skills, or is that skill a joke? I trained one level in it and it's still stuck at 2% time reduction (didn't change from last level).

Lvl 5 is the max unless that skill has a advanced version( like learning, weapon upgrades). And it is still recommended that you focus on learning first since it saves A LOT of time.

nah focusing on learning skils will damage your gameplay :D
get your basic learnings to lvl4, advanced lvl3 and go off skilling everything else. Dont go into training learning skills more until ure not a newbie anymore and u know how the game works, and what is being played :)
Youll know when the time is right.
I got all my learnings to lvl5 after 1,5yrs of playing. Been training them between breaks in skilling other things.

Thanks! Will learning peak at level 5 too, and if so, are there other "advanced" learning skills?

You do realize that when they speak of learning skills they are talking about the whole range of learning skills, not just the skill called learning. For example, analytical mind, instant recall, spatial awareness, etc.... Those other learning skills are actually more important than the skill "Learning".

About the skill "learning". All it does is adding 2% per level to your attribute. So if you have learning at 1 you get int+2%, perception+2%, .... So if your int is 10 (for example) than its now 10,2. Not this big difference.
More important are all the other learning skills. Analytical Mind, Empathy, Instant Recall, Iron Will, Spartial Awarness. They add 1 to the attribute for each level you have in it. So if you have Analytical Mind on level 4, your int is raised by this 4.
Once you have one of these skills at level 4, you can learn the advanced one for each attribute. Basicly is does the same (add 1 to attribute for each level) but has a higher rang. So it take longer to learn it.
And last there are the implants. One for each attribute. And each add as well their value to the attribute. There are +1, +2, +3, +4 and +5 ones.
These attributes are so important becauce of the system of the skill learning works. The time it take to learn a skill is realated to the primary and the secondary attribute. As higher they are as faster you learn a skill.
best advice is to get the 5 attribute learning skills to 4 and the advanced ones of these to 3. Combined with the normal learning at 4. And get a set of +2 or +3 implants.
