First of all, please note I said "changes" and not "nerf." I'm personally quite pleased with the torp changes, but for ratting/mission purposes, new options are needed.
So, is there anything out there that rats as fast or faster than a Raven? I'm not averse to training for any races or ship class. Just wondering what you guys think.

How about, get in range and keep using torps, or stay where you are and use cruises

Getting in range requires a) cap and b) time.
I'm looking for ship ideas where I save both.
I've tried both. Cruises just feel too slow compared to torps (and I have cruise spec IV trained).

Try using blasters.
Oh, wait...

I considered using Javs. Anyone know their range w/ lvl 4ish support skills?
And why not blasters? I kinda was curious to know how the Astarte fared as a ratter, compared to the Raven.

Train up your skills.
My torps can still do close to 40k. Think i can get past that with implants.

Guristas mainly...If they were Serpentis I guess it'd be less of a problem

Hmm... tough... Sadly, seems like Cruise raven would still be your best bet :-/

If you're looking for Torp options, I'd go with an AC/Torp/MWD fitted Typhoon. I have no idea what kind of tank you'd be able to mount on it and you'd have to train up Projectiles and Minmatar ships, but you could get into range pretty well and still use your torps.

torp is an excellent ship for ratting. Alternatively cruise ravens can be decent, just remember to bring 3 bcuII's Your signature graphic must reflect your ingame persona as per The Forum rules - Kreul Intentions ([email protected]) |

Yeah, the phoon would prolly be the best torp ratter for this job.
TBH, for the Raven, I'd try this (If I had the skills for T2 torps):
Raven 6x Siege II 100mn MWD II, LSB II, Kin, Thm Hardener, X5 Web, PWNAGE 3x BCU, 2x PDU 3x Polycarbs... 5x Vespa II, 5x Hornet II
Realistically (with my skills): 6x Arby Siege, 2x Med Nos 100mn MWD II, XL SB II, 2x Kin II, 1x Thm II, Fleeting Web 3x BCU II, Co-Proc II, OD II 3x Polycarb 5x Vespa II, 5x Hornet II
At least, I'd give it a shot... ;-)

Think it's 45 km if memory serves me correctly on maxed skills.
If you are concerned about the ravens torp range why are you even considering a blaster based ship?

if you wanna do instant damage at a longer range try tempest(if you feel upto training it) otherwise just fit cruise, looting/salvaging gurista rats is useless as you probably already know...and gurista rats make you the worst isk of all ships..rails/artys/cruise are your best bets for ratting like your used to...train accordingly on of those For All that has been said and done, you will suffer... |

Yah, quite possibly the Typhoon now for missile-specced characters.
Oh, and Shaemell, your sig's gonna be removed, Sokratez had something of that nature and it got removed.

I use:
6 siege
3 hardeners, boost amp, X-l booster, painter
3 bcus, co-proc, DCU
2 velocity and 1 flight time rig
But then I rat angels and I've yet to see one orbit at over 40k. Specifically for guristas although you can use jav I wouldn't bother but on the golem they're very likely to be an attractive option.

My current Angels ratting setup:
Typhoon 4x Seige Launchers 2x Nos (Not much use, but looks pertty ;) ) 1x Tracor Beam 1x Salvager
1x 100mn AB II 3x Cap Rechargers II
1x LAR II 1x MAR II 4x Rat Specific Hardeners (2x Kenetic 2x Explosive) 1x BCU II
1x Trimark 1x Aux. Nanobot Pump
6x Berserkers 5x Warrior
Even after the torp changes, I can still easily get into range. Its not the fastest ratting setup out there, but it is entirely self sustaining.

Guristas is absolutely perfect for the Raven, as you can get away with only 2 hardeners. Which leaves you room to fit a MWD/AB and maybe even a cap recharger or two. The fitting is skill intensive (AWU IV, I believe), but it works. |
