Well, heres the thing.
I (some alt char) lost an apoc the other day, it was fully insured, platinum insurance. I only got 40% payout and as eve-support claims "Change of ownership voids the contract", now the contract states the following :
"The selected item will be insured while in your possesion for the duration of the contract. Repackaging the item will void the contract. The contract will be considered void if the item or ship is destroyed while being in the possesion of somebody else. Do you accept the above terms and still want to insure the selected item?"
This seems pretty straight forward yet it seems my insurance ran out 1 and a half hour after i insured it (upon trading it to a friend for fitting).
Now i am curious if this is a bug or if it is one of those crucial changes CCP "forgot" to tell us about.
In hope of an answer from CCP

I lost about 15M isk on insurance because I didn't realise repackaging voided insurance but when I petitioned it turned out it's always been that way.

Read the first line of the isurance quote. "while in your posession". That tells you if you trade it you lost insurance.
Sorry to hear it happend

I think if you even eject from the ship, insurance gets voided.
I think.

Yes josh, it says so in the insurance contract.
But the contract says nothing about voiding the insurance if you trade the ship (loan, moving, whatever) to your mate and get it back.

Milo, it does say that, but it says nothing about the ship losing the insurance if you loan it to someone else, although it states clearly that if destroyed while in the posession of someone else the contract will be considered void.
And on that note, i have loaned my ship to corpmates and others (moving my ship through empire space) and have always retained my insurance upon reaquiring the ship. So if you lose the insurance, then where did they announce this change and when, cause i sure missed it.

As much as I don't fully understand any non-exploit reason to give a ship to someone else for re-fitting, that's beside the point. I think his issue is
Quote: The contract will be considered void if the item or ship is destroyed while being in the possesion of somebody else.
There's no reason to say "while in the possession of sombody else" if as soon as you give it away it's voided anyway, thereby making that case not possible.
It might have been meant only for ejecting though, Alien8. It's definetly contradictory. -- TomB: End the speed-race. 1 propulsion mod allowed, make turrets affect ship attributes like +speed/+ab speed +agil for progressivly smaller/lighter turrets, -speed/-ab speed -agil for long-range. |

Thats true, iv done that in the past and it was still insured for me, when i got my ship back from another person. If they changed that, then i havnt seen any mention of it.

Well Wraeththu, there was no X involved, i simply loaned the character and account to a mate and he traded the ship (plat insured) to me and i fitted it for him (he¦s a bit of a noob).
Simple...and should not have voided the insurance....
Well, i¦m still waiting for the next email from custumer support (last one took 3 days)

Fetty, if you read the insurance agreement you might be a bit surprised.
The insurance agreement reads as follows :: "The selected item will be insured while in your posesion for the duration of the contract. Repackaging the item will void the contract. The contract will be considered void if the item or ship is destroyed while being in the posession of somebody else. Do you accept the above terms and still want to insure the selected item?"
This contract clearly states 2 actions which will void the contract and no more than 2. áa. Repackaging the item will void the insurance. áb. Ship being destroyed while in the posession of a third party will void the insurance.
Also it states clearly that "The selected item will be insured while in your posession for the duration of the contract." This i can understand in no other way than if you are flying the ship, the insurance is valid.
There is nothing that says that a change of ownership should void the contract, if there was there would be no logical reson for the (b) part of the contract would there ?

Glad you're back Zombie... I definately thought it was BS (not battle ship) to ban you all.
The way I read the insurance, if you trade your ship or loan and then it is destroyed, your insurance is void. I see nothing about loaning it out to move it from one place to another, thus voiding the insurance.
BTW, was an awesome video Drunken made out of the Yulai event...
