I want to make sure that Devs realize what happens when you give a battleship MWD, cloak, and cloaked speed bonus.
Black Ops ships offer 500% cloaked speed increase at level 4 skill
A popular tactic is to activate MWD and then cloak right away. That gives people 10 seconds of active MWD while cloaked. This is already a powerful tactic even with the strong speed penalty of cloaked ships. However, if you replace the cloak speed penalty with speed boost, what you get is something extremely powerful.
A cloaked Dual-MWD cavalry.
Only 10 seconds, but still, I want to make sure the devs realize how people will use it.

you do realize you can't use 2 mwd's at the same time right?

I was making an analogy. The 500% speed bonus from skill is similar to having a 2nd MWD on.

Edited by: Shardrael on 10/12/2007 04:33:25 I fail to see how this is overpowered, being that you cant use dual mwd this makes it basically a battleship sized stealth bomber in terms of movement bonuses.
to get any kind of speed boost over a normal bs with mwd you need the skill at 5. and then you get something along the lines of X *.3 *6.25 *5.5 so lets say X is 137 m/s that means the armageddon bs would do 1400 m/s for 10 seconds before going back to almost normal. speeds...
now I dont know if my math is dead on but its close and I see nothing about this that is unbalancing
especially for ship that at best will cost 700 mil and is currently closer to 1 bil +
edit: wait so what your saying is if they change a bonus that they have given no indication they will, let alone changing it goes against common sense, then something might be overpowered?
news flash if they change the reuse timer on doomsdays to two minutes they might be overpowered!!! everyone whine so they dont change something they never said they would

A typical post-nerf nano-domi would do 3000 m/s (people with elite setups and gang mods will achieve 5000+)
A level 4 skill would give typical nano-Black Ops 18,000 m/s acceleration for 10 seconds. An uber setup would get 25,000+ m/s
These ships wouldn't do loops around the enemy. They will use it mostly for getting out of gate camps
Gangs/fleets will use these ships to quickly cover 100~ km distances to the enemy while protected by cloak.
Don't get me wrong. I don't consider this tactic an exploit. I know it's expensive ship and has specialized role. I just want to make sure that CCP are aware of the way people use the ships. If they are, there shouldn't be nerfs in the future after people cry on the forums. And they will cry.

Maybe they'll have a use for a bit before getting primaried and you watch 1.5b go down like a sack of ****. ---

Edited by: Joe Sales on 10/12/2007 05:11:11 I am willing to bet 10 mil that MC will be one of the first to fully take advantage of this tactic in fleet warefare
Again, I am not against it. I just want to prevent future nerf, or make CCP nerf it now before people buy it and use it.
Imagine this situation:
Your enemy has massive gate camp, they try to prevent hostile fleet pass thru. They have large bubbles everywhere, several carriers, 50 little support ships and snipers.
Now you have this Black Ops battleship, you jump in, you double click anywhere away from the gate, activate MWD, activate Cloak. The enemy can't lock you unless you lag out. You cloak and zoom out of their camp at 20 km/s. After the MWD expires, you can still cruise at 700 m/s to put more distance from the enemy..
Make an entire gang out of these and think of the possibilities.. there is no targeting delay after decloaking.. ooo the possibilities

Except that the fact they get a 500% cloaked speed bonus doesn't change the fact that they still get an 80% speed penalty while cloaked from an improved cloak.
137 m/s * .25 = 34.25 m/s x 500% (assuming you have Black Ops lvl 5) = 171.25 m/s x 550% (100MN MWD II) = 941.86 m/s.
But it'll never get there in one pulse because they have almost 50% more mass than their t1 counterparts. There's nothing remotely broken about this. _______________

Edited by: Erotic Irony on 10/12/2007 05:12:44 the top speed imo is a moot point, they're some of the most mass intensive, if not the most, non-capital ships in game--the only one that seems broken in the sense of the OP is the sin which earns the agility bonus to help offset its weight and accelerate at a respectable rate

If that is true, then it's definitely not an overpowered tactic. Sorry for making noise
