Guess what other ships are hard to kill? Any ship piloted by someone who knows what they're doing and has proper intel on their surroundings. Hell, if you say you're so plagued by vagas, try using your scanner or fit a WCS. They're available for people who are too stupid to figure out how to PvP outside of EFT.

Cost does not equal balance, say that 100 times and if you still don't get it, say it 100 more. Cost is only really an indication of two things, build costs/availabilty and desirability. The first is set in stone, the second depends on how overpowered the modules are. Hence Talismans used to go for 2-3 times what they go for now. They are just as available, but they suck now.

A vaga w/ 2 gyros will do as much damage at 60% fall-off as a Zealot will do at the same range. That vaga will be faster, have better tracking, use less cap, and have better damage types, it goes over 5km/sec, not 4.

The advantage of going such speeds are you can completely control transversal. A small ship trying to sneak up on you is gonna pop, drones are gonna pop, and missiles/turrets of the bigger ships are going to miss. Anything you can completely decimate in damage you can choose to go to point blank range and fry.
