We need trial accounts to provide the veteran players with more targ..., err, um, showcase the game.
On a more serious note, the trial accounts do allow potential players to see if EVE is the game for them. We do have limitations in place on the number of trial accounts that can be logged in server-wide and per user. If you are stuck in Jita, I would recommend moving elsewhere or jumping in during low traffic times. If you are truly stuck, submit a stuck petition from the menu to the left.

An addition to Kieron - we need trial accounts to scout ahead of our expensive, slow and full haulers of bountiful produce. We also need a fresh supply of trial accounts to spy on lowsec people and take a look around 0.0 without anyone knowing who did it.....

We would do that with our 2nd or whatever account anyway. ___________ I've never been so serious as I am now. No, really. |

What we need is prohibition for noob ships to enter low sec and 0.0 (and even better prohibition for any char that doesn't have at least first payed grade of the medi clone). That would cut down on clutter around certain gates quite a lot :)

Yes, that is certainly in keeping with EVE's approach to gameplay. ---------------- Tarminic - 29 Million SP in pink Forum Warfare |

Not really. First grade clone is nothing, and can be bought with starter money. As can a low-end T1 frigate and fittings. All you are doing with that ban is making the person with the Alt account spend all of 5 minutes more fitting out a cheap T1 frig with extra stabs and setting a clone at the starter station.
The best way to get the effect you are looking for is to ban trial accounts from jumping into 0.0. That way, anyone wanting to create a spy-alt will have to either pony up for the account, or waste ISK on a GTC.
The only drawbacks to this method is that;
a) It becomes impossible to draw trial account players out to nosec, thus slightly stunting the influx of nosec PVP players.
b) It encourages remaining in hisec and getting into the "carebear" professions and;
c) It limits the use of alt-spies to larger corps that can afford the GTC's to create them.
Still, it's a more effective preventative than just banning noob ships and chars with no clones.

Your alt is aptly named.
Careful he could have alt named "Spittle".

How about making it impossible for trial accounts to speak in local, or mail anyone except their corporation and/or alliance?
Although the latest ISK seller tactic appears to be to apply to join corps and put their spam messages in the bloody recruitment mail :(

I'm confused and angered. I must fellate CCP at all times, yet flame people who say to leave Jita.

I think most of them are 2nd accounts in 0.0. If I look in my corp, I think we have close to 2 accounts on average. Most people have 2, some have less, some have more.
Don't really believe that the trial accounts are more used for spying and scouting than alts on regular accounts. So I don't really think that nerfing trial accounts would help there much. ___________ I've never been so serious as I am now. No, really. |

A buddy of mine, who stopped playing Eve years ago, decided to come back after I told him he could get the 14 day trial. He came back, saw the shiney new graphics, I formed a gang with him, retaught him how to tackle, and we went Yarring... Me in one of my noname alts, and him in his new charactor.
he's just paid ahead for the the next 12 months.
THAT is what the Trials are for.
Yes, for every instance like this, there are hundreds of abusers, but hey, newbie pirates need SOMEONE to shoot other then Vaga's and Command ships.
