Hey
i am running a Dell laptop inspiron 9300. and with eve running as my front window my CPU according to "speedfan" is hitting 60 degrees C. is this to high???
when i have anything else as the front window it is at 44 degrees. i am in "classic" mode for EVE and have never had the heat issue before. i have also gone in and lowered ALL of the graphic settings, almost to atari levels.
so is this a patch issue??? or any ideas of what i could do to not "heat up" things to much

I will honestly never understand why we keep getting posts like this.
but here goes.
There is nothing special EVE can do to make your processor run hotter than any other program. Eve just executes instructions, just like every other program. When sitting idle at the desktop, the processor has less instructions to execute, so it can do its nifty power saving tricks, which makes it cool down. When eve is running, it will consume as much processor power as it can, to give you all the FPS it can. This is normal.
If you are having a problem with the heat, such as it makes your laptop unstable, which is a common problem with laptops, or its just too hot and its uncomfortable, you can go into the windows power settings, and limit the fastest setting the processor will run at while on AC power. This WILL impact your game performance, but the processor will cool down, as its running slower.

Edited by: ice hound on 11/12/2007 21:11:03 yes i have looked around at the forums and read a lot about this problem. and that is why i did my own. i did not see a solution to the problem and thought it may be related to the new patch, due to the fact that i did not have this problem before.
and i would like to know how you tell the CPU to run slower and i would try that. but i don't have a clue how you do that. if some one would like to give me an idea of how. i would appreciate it.
and eve does seem to be the only thing that i run that maxes the CPU at 100% the whole time it is up front and running

I'm getting the same issue.
My system now gets so hot it shuts down.
Only since trinity and with no other program.

Easy your cooling isnt enough to keep it cool.
But yes there is something wrong since ppl are reporting in that their CPU is working its ass off. I do hope that CCP can find the problem to this.

I use an Acer Laptop about 1 year old 3gig CPU and inbuilt Geforce 5. Not the best and premium is right out, but it used to perform np.
Trinity causes the system to overheat and shutdown after about 20mins, this was never a problem before and all other games run fine.
I've tried toning down graphics settings but seem to get no benefit, I don't know if it is CPU or graphics overheat. What is the best setting to reduce to take the strain away ?
