Hi all,
I am not sure if there is already a topic about this and/or how many have experiecned the same problem. But I just lost 2 Lab slots yesterday due to the slot not being used. The funny part is that it was not being used for about half of the day due to the BP that was in it was completed that day and when I came back on it had already unrented itself. Would have been nice to be given a full days grace period at least for it I would think. And or a mail telling u that ur slot will be unrented if not used within such and such time.

You must have a BP active in the slot the moment the station issue the bill or the re-rent request will be denied.

That would have made sense Judicator except for the fact that the renter returned the fee he charged me for the lab slot and then unrented it.

You probabaly did the following:
Payed the bill for extending the lease when you got it, it is the next "lease term". That bill is issued before the new term in up, 3 days before. Now, once the new term is up he will re-rent the slot to you and send a new bill for the next term. Now, you already payed for the term but you got nothing in the slot so he declines re-renting it to you. He sends back the 1000 ISK you payed last time because those 1000 covers the term he is about to activate but then refuses because you are not using the slot.
Bills are issued in advance, not when a period is already started.
Hmm, maybe this is easier to understand.
Initial period 0-2 is payed when you rent the slot. He immidiatly issues a bill for day 3-6 and you pay that bill right away. On day 3 he chekcs to see if you meet the requirements to rent the slot still so he can keep the 1000 ISK you have already payed for 3-5 and send you a new bill in advance for day 6-8. Your slot is however unused to he declines to allow the re-rent you already payed and give you back the 1000 ISK and does not send a bill for day 6-8.
Do I make sense?

You do make sense. However, there is a known bug whereby, sometimes, a slot that HAS been used - possibly that is still in use at the actual time the re-rental kicks in - is nevertheless denied extended rental because the system believes it has not been used.
I suspect that Jamie has hit the above bug, from how he describes his problem.

Yes, it happens all of the freaking time. You could put in a BP and set it for a research job that will last 2 months and the lab slot will unrent itself due to lack of use. It's brilliant, ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!!

I quit playing a few months ago due to this. The hard work to get these labs is nerve racking and tedious. But then to slowly but surely get a collection of labs at one station that you actually have an office at is insane and near impossible.
On my way to my office to switch and change my BP research's they each and everyone did just that, unrented! With daily and non-stop use and research, too. As a pure scientist/researcher/industrialist I lost 100% interest in this game due soley to that one day of complete ruin. It took me months to make that little set up.
