Under the UI section of the Trinity patch notes:
Quote: User Interface and EVE Voice
The in-space UI has been overhauled. Various components can be moved around the screen and the fleet UI has undergone a re-design. Fleet UI is now accessible while docked at a station. EVE Voice functionality is now integrated into the fleet UI. More information on these updates can be found in this Dev Blog.
No where in there do I see "we're removing wrecks from the long range scanner".
Why not? This is a big problem for people like myself who depend on that information. I'd like an answer/verification of this change as soon as possible please. Not verification that it exists, but verification that it's either intended or a bug.
Thanks in advance.

The scanner nerf is a huge hit to piracy and to salvaging in general. It makes is hard to tell if someone is in a mission or a safespot. Also makes it impossible to tell which type of mission or if they are near the start or end.
If I see a t2 ship/faction spawn wreck on the scanner you can bet I will check all the know locations to see if I can go salvage it. Now I would never know unless im right next to it in space.
Wrecks and cans being removed from the scanner is just unacceptable.

If it helps, I found some unpublished patch notes
Quote:
Ships
- Dreadnoughts now have a 0 ROF in siege mode. Sick of carrier pilots getting all the action? Now's your chance!
- Not being able to carry cargo except charges in vessels in a Ship Maintainance Bay also includes ozone. Who needs cyno ships, am i rite?
Starbases & Outposts
- Jump bridges will now break in a brand new way, going offline at downtime and becoming impossible to relink. The Bridge To menu will show a random number of new 'ghost' jump bridges in each system, for extra lolz.
- Assuming manual control of a starbase gun will now randomly crash your client.
- Cynosural system jammers now infact do not prevent any form of cynos in a system. We couldn't decide how many hitpoints were 'fair' to make jammers balanced, so instead they serve as a placebo effect only. Better hope your opponents don't read these patch notes!
- Vessels stored in an anchored starbase Ship Maintainance Array may now only have ammo or charges in their cargohold. You know, because people were always jumping anchored structures around to move their compressed cargo.
Miscellaneous
- Everyone in a corporation will now recieve mails intended for directors only. This includes starbase DED warnings and all corp membership applications. We'll leave this on for a week or so because it's fun for everybody to read and doesn't spam your inbox that much.
- To combat the constantly dropping price of implants, they will now be randomly destroyed upon a clone jump. That should make them a little more profitable.
- EVE Voice is now free, but it still sounds like ass.
- Thanks to a lucrative endorsment deal with Microsoft, EVE Online players are encouraged to upgrade to Windows Vista at the earliest opportunity. We don't want to spoil the surprise, but lets just say you're best off not running XP when you install this patch ;)

Also, anomalies not showing up on the scanner is a huge nerf as well.
The best anomalies take multiple tries to find so it is not at all obvious if they exist or not at this time.

You really think that is what this thread is about?
If it's about scanning down mission runners in the low sec, then I think the game mechanics should force you to look for the ship, and it should be hard, because when you nail him, it's nearly certain death for the mission runner, unless you are unlucky and land too far away from him in deadspace.

They didn't put it in the patch notes. They didn't tell us about it before hand. They HID THE CHANGE FROM THE PLAYER BASE. There was no discussion before hand. That is my point.

There were many other changes too. Imagine my surprise on sunday evening when I tried to put my T2 production jobs up. Well, the way the waste is calculated had changed and I was lacking some minerals. No big deal.
Then I notice that the build requirements of T2 drones had changed and now require T1 counterpart of the said drone. Uh oh.
Spent few hours moving stuff and putting it into the factories. Stealth changes can be a huge pain.
But back to the topic at hand, searching for war targets in empire just became much harder too. No longer can I try to figure out what they might be doing on basis of scan results.

Hey Bellum, do you really think that the players would be upset by this? I mean if you put up a poll when eve starts asking you
"Should missions be harder to scan?"
What do you think the results would look like? I think CCP is catering to their playerbase, the quiet non-worum fhores out there. An Ad Hominem is a general category of fallacies in which a claim or argument is rejected on the basis of some irrelevant fact about the author of or the person presenting the claim or argument. |

Trinity had so many changes (both intended and unintended) that several things were overlooked. If boot.ini and POS bugs that could have been detected by a QA person with one week experience got through, what to say about deeper modifications (bugs).

So we can't scan for wrecks and cans. Great. Huge boost to carebear canners.
What else are we expected to give up in the need for speed, aka "Need For Less Server Spend"? --
