Right, so, say I'm flying alongside a corpmate through highsec, and someone fires on him in an attempt to say suicide gank him, would myself and corpmates be able to fire back on the offenders without getting CONCORDed or would only the one being shot at be able to?

I know for a fact that that is the case with can stealing, i am however not so sure with suicide ganking. Once they start flashing red on your overview however, you can engage them without fear of repercussions from the game itself.

I'm pretty sure that if it's a corp-mate, you're allowed to retaliate (probably safest to be in a gang though)
Doubt whether someone in your alliance would be enough though.

If the person shot your corpmate, and your corpmate isn't -5 or worse sec status, the attacker would be criminally flagged, allowing them to be attacked by anyone for 15 minutes. This also guarantees a swift and deadly incoming visit from CONCORD, sure to terminate his ship.

Edited by: Divus on 12/12/2007 11:28:04 theorie is like that:
as long as your corpmate is not flagged to the ganker somehow (killrights/canflagging etc) the ganker will be global criminal flagged and therefor everyone and his/her mum can kill him.
i dont think u will be able to tho, simply cus CONCORD will pop him pretty quick -------------------------------------------------

If you're escorting someone who's hauling something valuable through high-sec, it might be a little better to fit remote repair modules to repair your corpmate than to fir weapons to kill the attacker. CONCORD does respond to unprovoked agression in 0.5 and higher (5 seconds in 1.0, 20 seconds in 0.5) and will destroy the ship of any current law-breakers.
Suicide ganking is a race against time to kill the target before CONCORD arrives. If you can keep your friend alive until CONCORD had done their job, the ganker gets nothing but the insurance on his ship and loses out on whatever was destroyed in the explosion.
Now when you see someone who's flashy-red on your overview, that person is criminally flagged in some manner and you can shoot at them freely without CONCORD intervention, BUT whenever you shoot at them, they are then free to shoot YOU without CONCORD comming for them.
If someone has attacked your friend in high-sec and CONCORD is already comming, try to keep your friend alive instead of going after the attacker. You just might be able to loot the attacker's wreckage for your troubles. (Check the area for any of the attacker's corp-mates first though. If you take from the attacker's wreck, his corp-mates will be free to attack you for 15 minutes) _______________________________
