Okay, look at those Concord Billboards, they have a large banner on them saying "This Space For Rent". How much does this cost for an ad and what are the T&C?
I can just imagine what people would put on these billboards....

Unfortunately you cannot rent space on them atm.
afaik, the guy from CCP who designed the billboards left, and did not comment the code properly, so now no one knows how to modify the billboard system 
This would be a great feature though, and if it was implemented I would definitely consider renting some space for corp advertising. So please devs, I know you have a lot of bugs to fix and stuff, but if you put this in I will personally give you lots of /huggles for Christmas

would be really cool if you could setup your own billboards if your alliance has sovereignty of the system

Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |

I've been wishin the same thing for years now. It doesn't seem like such a difficult thing to achieve...
As I understand it, the person orriginally in charge of billboards was fired/quit/died/got a real job/etc. and no one has picked up the task since. Possibly the lack of concern for the project is rooted in threads like this dying out quickly. Honnestly, I don't think there's all that much interest from the players.

Would be nice if there was important, relevant information on those things. Right now all they do is suck up rendering time when jumping to a gate. Maybe if they flashed red if there were more than 5 podkills in the next system in the past hour, or even if they warned of congestion ahead, or advertised contracts, ANYTHING other than more useless Quafe ads.

Depends, "Got Blue" in secured areas (along with your own gate guns), adverts and general cruft in your DMZ/trade hub. What? You're going to get carebears anyway, more profitable to accept that and flog them expansive overpriced ammo and stuff. As well as randomly shoot them for giggles obviously
