My cache is 1.25gb, time for a clean-up? Does it actually improve lag? I thought the reason it would be cached is to decrease loading times? _________________________________________________________

i usually clear my cache after every patch
if you clear your cache you generally make eve run slower, because it has to go to the server for peoples portraits and that kind of stuff again. ------

Some parts you clear, some parts you don't. Its pretty obvious though.

I wrote a quick util to do this... see my sig for the download link. Fairly easy to use and all my Corp use it.
Keeps all your setting though, and only cleans what you want.

EveDude's still on the eve-i.com site I believe. It has some selective cache cleaning options.

Edited by: Mrissa Easeah on 12/03/2004 23:20:57 My bad... the download's listed, but the link's been taken down. :/
Might be that its being updated, or they're still working on the webpage and it'll be reconnected (It just got a major facelift).
(Goes and takes a look at Keeval's proggy)

I am also suffering from terrible lag, tonight it has cost me 2 ships so far
in order to stop jump in point camping CCP introduced the 1 minute cloak after you jump systems, that is all well and good, but can someone explain to me why it is taking well over 1 minutes to load in the next system at times
2 times tonight i have entered a system without auto-pilot on so i could check the other side of the gate, both times i have been lucky to get away in my pod,
i have tried clearing my cache but to no avail, this is definately something CCP needs to sort out as it is taking the fun out the game, i dont mind loosing a ship in a fair fight, but for something to happen like this when it is out of your control is pretty hard to swallow
this isnt just on enetring a new system, this also happens regulary when you exit warp at a gate,,
if its a lag issue then can we please do away with the pointless concord/DED/Local authority ships that are at the gate, these cannot help the playability of the game in the slightest,, fun and functionality are the main goals in game,
