I have two odd files in my c:\documents and Settings\user\local settings\Temp file. They are ExeFile.exe.hdmp and ExeFile.exe.mdmp. They are both 500+ mb files and were both created on December 6th. Can I delete these? Thanks.

Yes, you can delete them. One solution why you got these files: http://www.spy-emergency.com/research/T/Trojan.MulDrop.html
Temp folder is not very important, it stores temporary files and folders used by programs. Viruses and other malicious files may be stored in that folder. You can do some altavist search by yourself about some rare files and folders that shows up now and then. Some may be do some harm and some are harmless.

Errr no, it has nothing to do with virus / spy / hax whatever. mdmp = memory dump. I bet you are just like me, when exiting eve sometimes eve hangs... It creates a memory dump.... (I found this myself yesterday and freed up almost 5 GB on my C drive  )

Ok good. I knew this had something to do with eve. When playing eve, the same Exefile.exe shows up in the task bar only without the *.mdmp extension. So I wasn't sure how these two files were associated. Is it ok to just delete everything in that Temp folder?

I only deleted the two exefiles but deleted them during the downtime. The client main screen opened just fine but obviosly couldn't log on. Will also have to wait until after work today. Did you delete the entire contents of the Temp folder or just the eve files?

They're generated when eve crashes. They have the same name (save the extra .mdmp) for that reason :)
They're not needed unless you are a game programmer trying to fix the crashes. nullnull |

I'm not a game programmer, so these are just files to fill my harddrive for no reason. I only use 40g drive on this pc and today I had to delete 8g!! of these files. Please fix this.

These files are created by windows when it detects a crash of a piece of software.
It tries to take a snapshot of the programs used memory and store it for debugging later.
It can be rather annoying in the extreme as they take a long time to generate, slowing down the pc while they do it, and take up a not insignificant amount of space.
This is done by windows not EVE so we can not control it.

Nothing has changed with Windows, but EvE is crashing a lot more!
Pre-Trinity patch I almost never had a crash in EvE. Now I've had dozens.

ExeFile.exe crash to desktop occurs twice nightly since Trinity, with an extra one for free every time I exit Eve manually.
To state there is nothing CCP can do to control it is not an insignificant amount of fibbing.

Reading comprehension ftw. He stated that the production of the large files is a work of Windows. Not the crashes themselves.

Hey I said "naughty thoughts" about Eve and a fanboi appeared to celebrate mediocre standards, what a shocker....
