Ok, This is not a whine, I would like some real advice please. I have trained up now and am 2 weeks from flying an Arazu. I did all the supports firsts, ie training for sensor damp II, warp disruption 4 etc. I will also have tech 2 guns in a couple of days.
I appreciate that the way sensor damps work has been changed, We all know this, But I still want to fly this ship, I would like advice on a setup and which scripts seem to be most effective after the changes.
I would also like advice on which rigs to consider aswell.
Please respect my request for advice on a fitting, I have read a lot of the complaints as I am sure you all have, And yes I did try searching for a trinity arazu setup, but unfortunately the were to many of the afore mentioned posts hiding any setups that had been posted.
Many thanks in advance.

I would say
High - Cov ops cloak , guns or missiles whichever u prefer Meds - mwd , warp disruptor II , sensor booster II , 3x sensor damp II w/locking time scripts, large cap battery II Lows - cap power rely II, nanofiber II , overdrive II
Drones - 5x light ecm drones w/spares or 4x medium (these are key)
Rigs - dont :S prolly poly carbons would be your best to survive so u can nano it up and zoom away from any problems, ceptors, any other recons , any quick ships u will need to run from, also any ship that can lock quickly.
If u go to tackle a battleship hopefully it will take him long enough to lock you until your gang comes then maybe once in a while ur ecm drones hit. Sensor booster is necessary because u need to lock asap to get his locking time longer.

I do alot of scouting recon as it is in a helios. But I want to upgrade to an arazu so I can pin down unsuspecting targets.
So mainly scouting + target pinning for bigger guns + support in gang ops

Yup arazu can now hold large targets when its lucky (hits on drones) , scout and stop sniper battleships in fleet ops from sniping if u change ur scripts quickly. But other than that its just another support ship in the ranks.

Not really, unless you get very lucky. The optimal range of sensor damps is so low that you'll be very, very far into falloff, and damps are chance-based outside optimal. You might be able to inconvenience one, with luck and by using all your damps on it.
Midrange ships, sure. But real snipers... usually not. Unfortunately.

I'd recommend fitting ECM in the mids. Your gangmates will thank you, post trinity. ----------------- Friends Forever

Thank you for your input. Although I do not see the use of fitting ECM on an arazu considering the ship gets no bonuses to it, I am looking for options on damps. I can fit ecm on any other ship I fly with the same effect.

Thanks alot, I had not considered fitting it for speed, Although I can see the effectiveness of it in a situation where I would need to escape if support did not arrive and/or if something was getting too close.
I will have a play with that in quick fit

Edited by: Liang Nuren on 14/12/2007 17:53:32 My fit before Trinity:
Arazu Covops, Probe Launcher, 2x 250mm Rails 10mn MWD, SeBo, Warp Disruptor, 3x Damps 3x OD, CPR 2x Damp Rigs
It worked pretty good before Trinity, but I have real trouble damping anything larger than a cruiser to a reasonable level after trinity.
-Liang
Ed: Of course, after the huge trinity nerf of damp rigs, I'm probably better off going with the standard 2x Polycarbs or probe time rigs. -- I give up (Make me say whatever you want!): Price Check: Liang Nuren

Thanks Liang
That looks like a solid setup, I would be lying if I said I was not a lil upset by the changes to damps, And your post confirms my fears since U seem to always post constructively. I guess I will Just fly the ship and learn to use it as it is now.
Will be practicing swapping those scripts too

The way I've been fitting out my Arazu's has been to reprocess the Arazu's and use the materials to build a Falcon.
Then you just fit ECM.

I finish Caldari Cruiser 5 in 20 hours for exactly this purpose.

Well, When I need advice on how to fit a falcon I will look you up. I asked quite simply and politely for people not to de rail this thread. Now I will ask quite simply and politley for you to get back in your cave please

Hey I hate the nerfs as much as you do, but I just adapt and use the falcon for the same purpose as I used the Arazu for.
If you want something close to the pre-trinity arazu, the falcon is the way to go.
Now back to my cave, where my falcons are building.

Ive done this str8 after Trinity was released, damps are useless now, but youll find out in time. The ECm setup works, and works well.

It still works better than damps on bonused ships (imo). ;-)
Reasons: 1. Damps are entirely useless against battleships now (and most BC's are still well defended against damps just by ship attributes with no mods). 2. Damps are useful against BC's/Cruisers, but they typically have lower sensor strength (and are thus more more susceptible to ECM). 3. Damps do not help your gang mates if they have to get inside web range, unless you're fighting one of the lower tier cruisers. 4. ECM does help your gang mates if they have to get inside web range (20 seconds worth for each successful jam!) 5. When you're facing targets that could be damped effectively, you have between a 40-70% chance to jam them anyway with unbonused ECM.
So... you have a Thorax + Lachesis combo (for example) going after a Brutix.
Situation 1: Lach damps + Scrams the Brutix, and the Thorax gets ready to engage... and the Brutix gets a lock and the Thorax pops.
Situation 2: Lach ECM + Scrams the Brutix, and the Thorax engages for 20 seconds... waits until the next jam cycle and engages again (in complete safety).
Brutix dies.
There are quite literally no valid tactical reasons not to fit ECM on your Lach / Arazu ATM (IMO).

EXACTLY !!
I really wish peeps would try out things instead of blurting out the obvious, which in this case just simply isnt true. Ecm on an Arazu does work, ive prooved it in a fleet fight on the night Trinity went live, and damps are worthless even tho i have maxed out damp skills FFS.
The question is, why use an arazu when you could use something cheaper.

You come from planet plop....
Plop is a planet full of people who speak plop...plop being ****e.....
Insults apart.....damps are actually still useful....but where as i would only use 1 damp per ship (with rigs and skills 69.8% per damp) I now have to use at least 2 or even 3 in some cases.
As for ecm being the new damps.....ecm can be so easy to combat in a number of ways, that and the fact to be really effecient in the use of, you have to be in a ***dari ship.

All gallente pilots in my corp has switched to the falcon and sold/Leeroyed their arazus. But of course your welcome to keep using yours, and i hope we meet in a fleet fight with you in your nice damp wagon ;)
