Thanks to the module size changes in Trinity, my old mission salvage ship is no longer cutting it. I normally run a salvaging alt on a 2nd account in a Catalyst, and do cleanup either as I go or 1 gate behind. It no longer has enough cargo space for some L3s, nevermind L4s, even if I jet some cargo and pick it up on my main (in a Domi). So, I'm looking for an upgrade.
I think I need at least 1500m3 cargo space, along with 8 high slots and as much speed as I can get.
Right now I'm thinking about moving to a Hurricane with the following:
Highs 4/4 or 3/5 Salvager/Tractor Beam
Mids 1x 10MN Afterburner II or named 0-3x Cap Rechargers II's to be cap stable Lows 5x Cargo II's 1x Nano II
Rigs ??? Salvage or speed rigs I guess.
Should put me at ~1700m3 cargo and reasonable speed with permarun AB, I haven't checked the exact numbers yet. Might swap the nano for a 6th cargo hold if I need an increase to ~2000m3 cargo -- which is entirely possible with some modules now sized at 100m3.
Is there another ship that's priced under say 100-150M fitted, that would be a better choice?
Thanks :)

There's been some discussion on using the Exequror in this role.

The armeggeddon can hold 4200 m3 worth of stuff and run a AB for about 300 m/s. Its not the fastest ship, but it will hold everything and then some for several level 4 missions.
If you want slighty less cargospace try the harbinger (my ship of choice) You can run it with 1500 m3 capacity (should be enough) and get it to go 700+ m/s with a MWD. With my cap skills, it runs for several minutes, so youll need to turn off the MWD when you get to a cluster of cans.
Overall, any battlecruiser vessel full of cargo expanders should do fine.

You have 8 lows, put some nanos and some Cargo IIs. I have my geddon doing a K with it's mwd drive to salvage.

Edited by: Minotaurian on 14/12/2007 23:38:42 Unfortunately the Exeq only has 4 highs, so not really optimal for salvaging especially in missions with lots of wrecks.
And on paper it looks like the Harbinger is not as good as a Hurricane since it has less base cargo, less base velocity.
Hmm, a Geddon is an interesting choice. I'll have to see how fast I can get it with ~2000m3 cargo. Although the Typhoon may be better in the battleship class, loses a low slot but higher base speed and cargo... hmm. :)
edit: Also, MWD is not an option since I loot on a separate account while running the missions on my main, to save time.

Catalyst w/cargo rigs is still feasible if you're like me and only loot/salvage the battleships.

Cargo rigs are pretty expensive -- for the cost of 3 it seems I could have a much better salvage ship altogether.

True... just sayin', if you've already got said catalyst with cargo rigs like myself and I'm sure many others, it's just fine for just the BS's.

That is a good point :) I don't have rigs on my Catalyst anymore - had Salvage Tackles but ended up repackaging it by mistake late one night at about beer-thirty AM... :( Hence the decision to move to a new ship :)

I put an MWD and and AB on my geddon anyway. So if you finish the mission you can always go back and complete it, then you're free to MWD away.
