XP SP2, latest updates GeForce 6800, updated Nvidia3 250 chipset, no update?
On Eve classic: The game will just freeze up for about 5 or 6 seconds every 45 seconds to a minute. It's like lag - not a drop in FPS, but an actual lock up. I tried disabling antialiasing on the graphics card, also tried turning all the video settings down. nothing works. i got a crash about an hour ago with a message telling me that the video card is unstable and the computer needed to be retarted. I used to run Eve in 1280x1024 - shouldn't be too taxing with this gfx card.
I've never had a single problem with this sort of thing in Eve until trinity. As it is i can't play. The "premium content" is even worse.
Does anyone have any suggestions? thanks tC .... EVE Online. Become An Hero.

Edited by: Zanpt on 15/12/2007 15:22:25 Sorry, no suggestions, but I have the same lockup, but much more frequent than yours. I cannot run the "Premium" graphics in more than one Eve window, and even the "Classic" seems much more resource intensive than the pre-Trinity client was. I used to run seven Eve windows with a 7600 GT card on a 3.0 GHz Dual Core with 4 GB memory (3 for brain-dead WinXP), using WinXP Pro. I gave up trying to continue using the 256 MB 7600 GT and bought a $300 8800 GT, "superclocked" and with 512 MB. After enormous amounts of time spent tuning the new client I can once again run multiple Eve windows, but now I must reboot the PC before starting, and I can only run the "Classic" graphics, with cache = off.
So all the new graphics are invisible to me unless I want to fire up just one Eve window in Premium and go sightseeing. I can't do anything useful in Premium, and even in Classic I have to put up with rebooting the PC to reduce the Windows footprint that grows with Eve use apparently through memory leaks, and incessant momentary lockups. I think I have a stable way of running Eve now, but it's not as clean or fun as it was before Trinity.

dont you generally want the cache to be on "high" or something?
why does "off" help?
incidentally, i put in a GeForce 7300GT Gfx card. same problem still exists.
so far i'm pretty disappointed with this "upgrade"...

Ok, a lot of this thread is sounding familiar to me since the Trinity patches. I never had one single issue before Trinity running two clients simultaneously...... Ever !!

I thought it might be lag spikes at first but it seems to suck up resources (as in mem leak) until I have to reboot, not to mention the frequent lockups resulting in a full crash periodically. I darn sure can't/won't run missions now knowing that it can freeze up and crash on me.
There is definately something wrong here. I changed nothing and all these problems sufaced with the Trinity patches so CCP, what's the fix here? What's the problem many are having with this upgrade?

Because high is better if you have enough ram, otherwise your client will attempt to use more ram than your system has. -------- MAIDS. Don't know why I join a corp with such an obscure name. |

Turn off the d@mn Eve Char Monitor :) and unload Mozilla... those two things provoke the stop-n-go on my system for whatever reason, so I never have them active when I load EVE. Also, disable indexing service on your PC, helps some people...
