First of all I've been away from the game for a long time so forgive me if the answer is obvious.....it's going to take a lil while for me to get my space legs back.
I was equipping my ship last night and stumbled across the description of certain modules that stated there are penalties for adding more than 1 module that modifies the same stat. However, when I equipped these 2, i was unable to tell if I was being penalized. Where does the penalty show up??? How can I tell if I'm being penalized???
Also, if I equip 2 modules, the first one enhances tracking speed and tracking distance and the other enhances tracking speed and rate of fire, am I penalized on tracking speed even if these modules have different symbols on them??? Or, it the symbol on the module what determines if I am penalized or not????
Thanks in advance for any info. you provide.

The penalty mainly comes in a decreased boost. The first module always gives the full boost, while the second one activated has the boost it gives decreased, but still gives something. I don't know the equation off handd, but if you did the math comparing the altered stats of the things being effeccted, you can probably find out. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

yeah, like mookids said. its not really a penalty. it means that if the first module is worth 20% increase, then the second module will be worth only 15% despite it being an identical module. This is a fix to the uber stacking that many players were doing.
Those numbers were just hypothetical btw. I don't know what the actual formula is.
hope this helps

OK...I get it thanks. I thought if you added the second one, it would be worse than not haveing any modules at all, like a real penalty on that attribute. If I'm hearing you guys correctly, the benefits still stack - you just get less benefit for the additional mod. Cool...thanks again.
